Meet Kenneth Walker III’s parents. See how their intense training fueled the Seahawks RB’s run to Super Bowl 60.

The Seattle Seahawks are heading to Super Bowl 60 after a decade and will face their previous opponent. While the Seahawks are performing well, one of their RBs has a fair claim to pushing the team toward the championship game. Kenneth Walker III is Seattle’s Super Bowl ticket this season with 256 total yards and 4 TDs in just two games. But the champion was not forged in a day.

Walker III gave his parents, especially his father, credit for making him work for his dreams. The extra attention paid by his parents paid off when he moved from Wake Forest to Michigan State

Who Are Kenneth Walker III’s Parents?

The Seahawks RB is the son of Kenneth Walker II and Shaunteshia Brown.

While neither parent has a sports background, they have been part of the continuous development and nurturing of their son. While not much is known about his mother, Walker III’s father played a pivotal role in his conditioning.

He put his son through the most intense training. Walker II described it in 2021: “Grown men didn’t want to do the workouts I was putting him through.”

The Seahawks RB’s father worked the third shift at Rich Products in Arlington. He knew that his son wasn’t a big kid, but faster and stronger than many others. Putting it into perspective, Walker II would pull his son out of bed early on weekend mornings after returning from work.

These intense workouts shaped him from a very young age. While Walker III was a multi-sport athlete, football was his favorite. It all began with the Ellendale Bears, a bantam football team playing in Bartlett, where he won his first All-Star award. Here, he earned an interesting nickname.

According to Arlington’s third-term mayor, Mike Wissman, “They called him ‘Thundershoes’ and he just ran over and around everybody. He made football exciting for our community. He was just a pleasure to watch.” Wissman knew it, as he used to work the chains on the sidelines at Memphis-area high school games.

His mother’s involvement might not be evident by now. However, it can be inferred that Brown took care of Walker III at home while her husband handled training outdoors. She likely oversaw his conditioning through food and relaxation routines.

“Kenny was the child that never asked for anything. That’s the type of kid he was,” Brown said about her son. It also seems that she knows him best.

When Walker III announced that he would skip the Peach Bowl and forego his senior season to enter the NFL Draft in 2022, Brown said that he was the type who knew what he wanted. His decision has paid off.

The 2026 NFL season is Walker III’s most active season. He has played 17 games with a combined 1,309 yards. He has also scored five touchdowns. The talented RB ranks 20th overall on PFSN’s NFL WR Impact Metric with an impact score of 65.8.
