Keith Abney II’s NFL Draft Potential

Keith Abney II was quietly one of the best coverage CBs in college football last season, and he’s picked up his disruptive ways through the first half of the 2025 season. He has the fourth-highest PFSN CBi score in the nation at 94.1, and the tape has been lights-out from start to finish. At around 6’0″, 190 pounds, Abney has some of the most translatable coverage athleticism on the circuit, with effortless mirror-motor ability and route relationship management in off-man and zone.

He doesn’t quite have elite hip fluidity working against out-breaking routes and comebacks, and he won’t run the fastest in Indianapolis, but his effervescent matching skills, adept swivel and hinge flexibility, quick reactions, and stingy catch-point impact compare favorably to Pro Bowler Jaylon Johnson.

CFB Week 9 Update

While the Sun Devils lost against Houston, it was a solid week for Abney, who allowed just one catch for 12 yards on five targets, per TruMedia. Abney continues to dissuade quarterbacks from testing him altogether, and when he is tested, his sticky, claustrophobic coverage forces quarterbacks to press, which can impact precision and accuracy.

CFB Week 10 Update

Abney was once again stellar in Arizona State’s 24-19 win over the Iowa State Cyclones. As Abney loomed in off-man and zone coverage, managing spacing between routes with veteran poise, the Cyclones’ passing attack scarcely even tested him on his side of the field. Abney only saw targets come his way late in the game, and on Iowa State’s final drive, Abney was able to break quickly on a short hitch out of side-saddle and secure a tackle behind the line to gain.

Abney occasionally gets too comfortable drifting upfield in side-saddle, but overall, his quick twitch, fluid coverage mobility, sharp spatial IQ, and rapid reaction were all assets in Week 10. And all of it indicates his standing as a potential first-round pick and future NFL starter.

CFB Week 11 Update

Arizona State was on a bye in Week 11. They’ll return to action in Week 12 against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Where Is Abney Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Abney currently holds the No. 31 overall rank among prospects, placing him among the first-round caliber prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 27.2 as of November 11 reflects that he is typically being selected in the first round.

This small gap between rank and ADP suggests he’s consistently valued among evaluators, even amid fluctuations in player evaluations at this stage of the draft cycle.

Users controlling the Seattle Seahawks have been the team that selected Abney the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 3.9% of their picks across all seven rounds. Notably, 13.5% of the Seattle Seahawks’ first-round selections over that same period were used on Abney, underscoring users’ strong preference for him as a potential immediate-impact cornerback.
