What Teams Could Have an Interest in Former Los Angeles Charger WR Keenan Allen?

Going into his 14th season in the NFL, many could consider Allen as a depth option that may not be impactful to the offense. That’s far from the truth.

Last season in his return with the Los Angeles Chargers, Allen was 13th in targets (122), 11th in receptions (81), 30th in receiving yards (777), and played all 17 regular-season games. He ranked 55th in the season with a score of 73.6 per PFSN’s NFL WR Impact Metrics. The six-time Pro Bowler is still a very good WR in this league, and although Allen may not be a WR1, many teams could use him.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills made a massive trade this offseason for former Chicago Bears WR D.J. Moore, and they could still add another WR to this roster. QB Josh Allen can carry an offense, but taking as much pressure as possible away from him can allow him to truly shine.

A duo of Allen (WR) and Moore would be a massive upgrade from what Buffalo had last season, and with new HC Joe Brady, the Bills’ offense could be one of the best in the NFL. Also, Allen may be waiting for a contender to reach out with a contract, and that could be the Bills.

New Orleans Saints

Now, if Allen does not really care about playing for a proven contender, the New Orleans Saints make sense as a destination. Chris Olave is the clear WR1, Devaughn Vele is WR3, but that WR2 spot is up for grabs.

The Saints need to find someone to fill that opening, and although the draft is most definitely an option, adding a high-impact veteran like Allen would give them some flexibility to select a WR on day 2.

Also, there is a connection between Allen and Saints HC Kellen Moore. Back in 2023, Moore was the OC of the Chargers when Allen was still there, so there could be some interest in a reunion.

Los Angeles Chargers

The last potential destination for Allen is the team he just played for, the Chargers. With a talented offensive mind, Mike McDaniel, coming in as OC, and Allen playing most of his career in Los Angeles, it would be very understandable for the WR to play the rest of his career with the Chargers.

Next season, the Chargers should also be competitive, but if Allen is really chasing a ring, a return may not be the best idea. Allen’s decision on whether he wants to return to the Chargers comes down to his motivation this offseason.
