Day 1 of the NFL Draft was exciting, but Day 2 is set to be an even crazier time throughout the league. Although most of the focus is on what will happen with each pick in rounds 2 and 3, a veteran trade may be the next surprise.
Kayvon Thibodeaux Shares Interesting Post Amid Trade Rumors
The New York Giants have made major changes throughout their pass rush and defensive line in recent years. Coming into the draft, EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux was surrounded by trade rumors due to his spot on the roster being up in the air, and after the Giants selected Arvell Reese in the first round, Thibodeaux’s fate may have been sealed.
With rumors heating up and teams like the New Orleans Saints being heavily linked, Thibodeaux himself has posted a cryptic message.

It seems like a trade may be incoming, and the NFL World has had major reactions:
Saints insider Nick Underhill spoke on the rumors and said the team is interested in a deal, but the price might need to change. “This has been a long-going conversation. Tires were kicked back in February. I think the price might have to dip a little to make it happen.”

Mystery NFL insider Rickey Scoops posted some information on the Thibodeaux rumor with the Saints, “BARKING RUMOR. Giants and Saints have had serious talks about a trade involving Kayvon Thibodeaux. The situation will need to be monitored.”
Giants insider Anthony Rivardo reacted to Thibodeaux’s post and stated his feelings on the player’s future, “This guy is getting traded”.

Rivardo then mentioned the financial impact of the deal, “The Giants could do A LOT with the $14.75M they’d free up from trading Kayvon Thibodeaux. They have a surplus of talent at EDGE and a deficit of talent at other critical positions. If they get a Day 2 pick for Kayvon, I think they take it.”

NFL reporter Ralph Vacchiano brought up Giants HC John Harbaugh’s comments about Thibodeaux last night, and how they may not line up with these rumors, “John Harbaugh last night on the potential to trade Kayvon Thibodeaux after drafting Arvell Reese: ‘No. No. We keep all the good players as much as we can. Right? We love Kayvon.’ And now … this.”

This is big news for the NFL, and it makes sense for both teams if the trade goes through. The Giants do not need Thibodeaux on their roster, and his contract is almost up. For the Saints, EDGE is a major need, and they may be the perfect team for Thibodeaux to thrive on and get a contract extension.
According to PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric, the Saints had the 10th ranked defense in the league last season, and Thibodeaux’s addition could possibly make them a top-5 unit.
