Kareem Hunt Injury Update: Latest on the Chiefs RB After Scary Moment in Week 7 vs. Raiders

Kareem Hunt suffered an injury in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Here's the latest on the Kansas City Chiefs RB's status.

The Kansas City Chiefs are finding their groove after a big win over the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. The Chiefs started their Week 7 game off hot, driving down the field for a Rashee Rice touchdown. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Kareem Hunt was injured on the play, and it didn’t look good.

What Happened to Kareem Hunt?

Hunt was injured while blocking on the touchdown to Rice and had to be helped off the field by teammates. He couldn’t put pressure on his leg, but is now up and moving.

Hunt only had one carry for nine yards when he left the field. Hunt returned to the field and continued to get carries. He looked to be moving well and is making an impact as the Chiefs continue to dominate. Through the first two drives, he was the leading rusher for Kansas City.

Hunt has been the clear goal-line back for the Chiefs all season. He’s nothing more than a touchdown or bust RB3 for fantasy, but he does matter. Most importantly, he matters for Isiah Pacheco.

If Hunt has to miss time, Pacheco would likely get the goal line role back. Pacheco has been limited to carries between the 20s exclusively. He’s been minimally involved in the passing game and near the end zone.

Brashard Smith would be the favorite to assume the passing-down role, giving him some PPR RB4 value.

The Chiefs are closing in on the division lead after a slow start to the 2025 season. They sit one game behind the Broncos and the Chargers. Rice returned from his suspension for Week 7, and the offense is beginning to roll. The Chiefs are the 6th-ranked offense in PFSN’s Offense Impact score with a grade of 87.0. Kansas City is getting its weapons back and firing on all cylinders.

Patrick Mahomes has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in 2025. If he continues to play the way he has been, he could find himself in the MVP race when the season comes to a close. Today has been no different for Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The offense is moving the ball with ease and are looking to steamroll the Raiders. They scored easily on their first two drives of the game. The Raiders have no answer for the Chiefs right now and it doesn’t look like that will change for the rest of the game. Las Vegas has to find an answer very quickly or it’s going to be real ugly.
