The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a crushing Super Bowl 59 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles. Kansas City lost 40-22 to Philadelphia on Feb. 9, 2025, in New Orleans, falling short of a historic three-peat. Kansas City remains the class of the AFC, but have they ever felt more vulnerable during this dynastic run?
Other AFC contenders are excited about their chance to take down the Chiefs, but first, all teams need to get through training camp. Kansas City has announced its training camp schedule along with other important information. Let’s break it down.
Details on Kansas City Chiefs’ Training Camp Schedule
Kansas City heads into 2025 on a sour note after Super Bowl 59. Patrick Mahomes had his worst statistical season since becoming the starter, yet the Chiefs went 15-2 in the regular season. Mahomes threw for 3,928 yards (his first year under 4,000 yards as the starter), 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Stalwart tight end Travis Kelce also took a step backward in 2024, posting 97 catches, 823 yards (lowest since his rookie year), and three touchdowns. Kelce and Mahomes return with a chip on their shoulders, but how much does either have left in the tank?
The first step to returning to the top of the NFL mountain is training camp. Kansas City will return to the familiar Missouri Western State in St. Joseph, Mo., for camp, marking the team’s 15th training camp there.
Kansas City’s camp will run from July 22 to Aug. 13. AtoZ Sports’ Charles Goldman notes the team will go through a five-day acclimation period before strapping on the pads. Depending on the weather, Goldman expects the first day of pads to be either July 27 or 28.
The team will host 15 open-to-the-public practices at MWSU, including its Ambassador Day (July 28), Family Fun Day (Aug. 2), and Military Appreciation Day (Aug. 13). The Chiefs will also have two practices exclusively for season ticket members to attend (July 22 and Aug. 7).
The Chiefs are excited to get back in front of their fans, as the team’s Instagram account confirmed.

Goldman noted that practices on July 27, Aug. 2, and Aug. 3 will have a $6 admission fee. He also said that the team will charge $7 to park for all practices, excluding the season ticket member sessions.
The Chiefs will be at MWSU through the first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 9. Once camp concludes, the team will return to its home facility for the rest of the preseason.
Here is the Chiefs’ preseason schedule:
- at Arizona Cardinals – Aug. 9
- at Seattle Seahawks – Aug. 15
- vs. Chicago Bears – Aug. 22
Kansas City is one of three teams that will not hold joint practices in 2025. The NFL announced that 29 teams will participate in joint practices during the preseason. The Cincinnati Bengals and New Orleans Saints are the other two teams not holding joint practices.
Kansas City is still the team to beat in the AFC, but the team will face its stiffest competition yet in the AFC West. The Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos improved after making the playoffs in 2024, and the Las Vegas Raiders have taken a step forward this offseason. The Chiefs will look to capture their 10th consecutive AFC West title in 2025.
