The Green Bay Packers may not have expected as much of a fight from the Dallas Cowboys as they have gotten. After trading away Micah Parsons and losing CeeDee Lamb to an injury, the Packers wouldn’t be remiss to think that the Cowboys could be an easy victory on the road.
However, Dallas has given them stiff competition throughout the night, matching Green Bay blow for blow. But for the road time, their trip to AT&T Stadium may have come at a greater cost than they previously anticipated. In the second half, superstar running back Josh Jacobs went down with an injury that has put his status for the rest of the game in jeopardy.
What Happened to Josh Jacobs?
Jacobs has been banged up over the last few weeks and has been in and out of practice.
It was tough sledding for Jacobs in Week 3 against the Browns, averaging below two yards per carry. He rushed 16 times for 30 yards against Cleveland last week.
Jacobs is the 27th-ranked running back based on PFSN’s RBi metric with a grade of 73.6/C. Last season, he rushed for 1,329 yards and added 342 yards on the receiving end. With his 16 touchdowns in 2024, Jacobs was one of the best running backs in the NFL last year.
Against the Cowboys, though, he had found his footing once again, adding 70 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. However, midway through the fourth quarter, the Packers’ fan base got a shocking update.
Status alert: Josh Jacobs (knee) questionable to return Sunday.

Underdog’s NFL page on X reported, “Status alert: Josh Jacobs (knee) questionable to return Sunday.” Even though he came back for the next possession for the Green Bay offense, the worry continues to mount for a key part of their offensive unit.
As the Packers took a 34-30 lead with less than two minutes remaining in the game, it had already been a phenomenal outing for Jacobs. Having his best game of the season, his power and endzone prowess were on full display as he barreled through Cowboys defenders en route to two scores and over 100 yards.
Joining the Packers last year after spending five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, he had an electric first season in Titletown, tallying 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, earning the third Pro Bowl selection of his career.
However, his numbers took a slight dip this season. Through three games, he was up to 180 rushing yards and two touchdowns, while adding just 48 yards through the air. The game against the Cowboys seemed to be a return to form.
If the injury does not turn out to be a serious problem, then it is the kind of performance he can easily build off of.
