Since joining the Green Bay Packers during the 2024 offseason, running back Josh Jacobs has been a force to be reckoned with for head coach Matt LeFleur’s offense. So when fans saw him heading to the blue medical tent early on in the first quarter of the Packers’ Week 11 matchup against the New York Giants, there was reason to be concerned.
Here’s everything to know about Jacobs’ status with the Packers and Giants still in the first quarter of their Week 11 game.
What Happened to Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs?
After rushing for 22 yards on the Packers’ opening drive, Jacobs could be seen on the sideline having issues. While there was no official injury designation from Green Bay, Jacobs would be evaluated in the blue medical tent.
Jacobs did return for the Packers’ second drive of the day, taking the first snap for a six-yard carry and then getting another two-yard run two plays later. The rushes can alleviate some worry as Jacobs was able to get back into the game.

Jacobs went back to the locker room in the second quarter and is now officially questionable to return due to a knee injury.
Emanuel Wilson is the next man up, but an injury to Jacobs would likely place more usage on all members of this passing attack than it would give us a viable RB. Jacobs has been productive for the Packers this year, turning 162 carries into 608 yards and eleven touchdowns. He’s also caught 28 passes for 237 yards. According to PFSN’s RB Impact metric, Jacobs is the 12th-ranked running back in the league this season.
Romeo Doubs had an early drop on Sunday, but he remains the most reliable Packer WR, while Christian Watson offers some nice single-play upside ahead of Matthew Golden right now.
Luke Musgrave is an intriguing player with a clear role and potential for an increase in team pass attempts. He’s not a special play, but that role could land him in the top 12 moving forward, and that’s obviously valuable at a difficult position to feel good about weekly if you don’t have one of the top options rostered.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the “initial belief” is that Jacobs has avoided a significant knee injury, although more testing is required in Green Bay on Monday.
“There’s optimism he’ll return soon,” wrote Pelissero on Sunday.
