It was a shocking loss for the Green Bay Packers last week against the Cleveland Browns, who just got throttled by their division rival, the Detroit Lions. The Packers are taking on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. They’ve started off well, but squandered the lead right before halftime due to a Jordan Love fumble. They do need to get their star RB Josh Jacobs more involved, as he’s had a slow start to Week 4.
What Happened to Josh Jacobs?
Jacobs has been banged up over the last few weeks and has been in and out of practice. He hasn’t looked quite like himself in the first half of Week 4.
He had eight carries for 16 yards in the first half, and had two catches for 32 yards, which is a bright spot in an underwhelming half on the ground for Jacobs.

It was tough sledding for Jacobs in Week 3 against the Browns as well, averaging below two yards per carry. He rushed 16 times for 30 yards against Cleveland and is slightly improved at two yards per carry in Dallas.
The Packers choked away their first-half lead in a very short fashion right before the second quarter ended. Jacobs could be the key to regaining their foothold in the game and take the lead back, and hopefully for them, keep it for good.
In the second half, though, the tides turned for Jacobs. In the early stages of the third quarter, Jacobs found the end zone. He’s up to 13 carries and 41 yards and a touchdown. He added another reception in the opening drive of the third quarter that went for 14 yards.
Jacobs is the 27th-ranked running back based on PFSN’s RBi metric with a grade of 73.6/C. Last season, he rushed for 1,329 yards and added 342 yards on the receiving end. With his 16 touchdowns in 2024, Jacobs was one of the best running backs in the NFL last year. In 2025, he has to improve if he wants to reach the levels of 2024.
The Packers are letting the Cowboys dictate the game and need to figure it out if they want to avoid falling behind in the NFC North race. The Bears and Lions both won in Week 4, and Green Bay needs to match or they will fall below Detroit with two poor defeats.
The Packers had two great wins, but cannot afford to drop games against the Cowboys and Browns if they have contention hopes.
