Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen went down hard in the first quarter after being sacked by Houston Texans’ Will Anderson Jr. on Thursday night.
Allen rolled over immediately on his back and began flexing his left hand.
What Happened To Bills QB Josh Allen?
Allen was immediately attended to by the Bills’ medical personnel on the NRG Stadium field.
Once he was able to get back on his feet, Allen jogged off the field under his own power.

Allen led the Bills downfield for an early first-quarter score as they took a 6-0 lead. Houston came back with a field goal to cut the lead to 6-3, and that’s how the first quarter ended. However, the Texans ultimately scored a late touchdown and took a 20-16 halftime lead over Buffalo.
In the first half against Houston, Allen was 11-of-15 passing for 88 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. He was also sacked once for the loss of 10 yards.
The last thing fantasy managers want to see is Allen on the ground writhing in pain. Fortunately, he was able to get up and return to the game.
According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, entering Thursday night’s game, Allen had a QB Impact Score of 93.2 and graded out to an A. His play this season has Bills fans hoping their starting quarterback will be in the MVP conversations as the season progresses.
However, if Allen gets hurt again, this will primarily affect fantasy managers who have him on their roster.

While Mitch Trubisky is undoubtedly a massive downgrade for this offense, it’s not as if there are fantasy starters on the Bills outside of Allen and James Cook anyway. Unless Allen’s absence is long-term, this would be a short-term issue.
Khalil Shakir is a WR4/fringe Flex option. Joshua Palmer and Dawson Knox are well off the fantasy radar. Once Dalton Kincaid returns, having Trubisky instead of Allen would be a problem, but it is highly unlikely to materialize.
The Bills have been able to let Allen not only use his strong arm to reach their wide receivers, but the reigning NFL MVP is also pretty spry when it comes to running. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who leaves a lot of NFL teams wondering how to stop him.
Allen is going against a tough Texans defense on Thursday night, though. It’s going to take him using all the tools of his quarterbacking trade to get Buffalo into the win column. NRG Stadium has not been a friendly place for Allen, so he’s looking to change that narrative as well.
