Which Former Steelers Teammate Brutally Called Out Ben Roethlisberger?

Roethlisberger spent his entire career with the Steelers and is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in their storied franchise’s history. His contributions to their success were officially recognized in 2025 by him being inducted into their Hall of Honor.

The 2025 class also included one of his former teammates, Joey Porter Sr., with whom he played for three seasons and won one of his Super Bowl rings. The legendary linebacker recently had a shocking take on his former quarterback, blasting him for his character issues.

“The s**t he did, that we don’t talk about, is crazy. Out of anybody that could talk, he should never grab a microphone and really talk about Steelers business. Because if we’re talking Steelers business, his a** is foul of all foul … He’s not a good teammate. He knows that, anybody in the Steelers building knows that, but we protected him … Do I love my quarterback? Yeah. But is he a good person? No,” exclaimed Porter.

Porter didn’t hold back in directly calling Roethlisberger a bad teammate and a generally bad person. He may have been referring to his suspension back in 2010 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Roethlisberger faced multiple allegations of sexual assault, but was never criminally charged. He was also involved in a serious motorcycle accident in 2006, in which he was driving without a license and not wearing a helmet.

The linebacker also said that his quarterback was not a good teammate and seemed to resent the team deciding to “protect” him by keeping some of his other alleged controversial decisions in-house.

He claims that anyone involved with the franchise, including Roethlisberger himself, would agree that he was not a good teammate, despite being an excellent player.

He helped the franchise win three AFC Championships and two Super Bowl rings, and many around the league believe he will be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His consistent value during his legendary career spanning nearly two decades in Pittsburgh included him finishing among the top 12 quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings 13 times.
