Jaxson Dart was the second quarterback to come off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft after the New York Giants selected him 25th overall. The former four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class had the best season of his four-year collegiate career in 2024.
He led the Ole Miss Rebels to a 10-3 record while throwing for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Dart completed 69.3% of his pass attempts while adding 495 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 124 carries. The daughter of Giants general manager Joe Schoen expressed that she was happy with her father’s selection.
Jaxson Dart Receives Support From Joe Schoen’s Daughter
Dart was the Giants’ second first-round selection in the NFL Draft after the franchise traded back into the opening round to acquire him.
The former USC Trojans and Ole Miss Rebels quarterback took to Instagram with several photos to commemorate the moment, captioning the post: “THIS IS HOME 🍎 @nygiants”

Sydney Schoen, the daughter of the Giants’ general manager, was among those who supported the pick as she responded: “So happy to have you 💙❤️”

It is no surprise that Schoen’s daughter was happy with the selection of the 2024 first-team All-SEC quarterback. She currently attends the University of Ole Miss, where Dart spent the past three seasons as the starter, leading the program to a 28-10 record.
The rookie quarterback will likely be buried on the depth chart to begin his professional career. While the Giants’ quarterback room consisted of just Tommy DeVito entering the offseason, they signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson to compete for the starting role. The loser of that competition will, in all likelihood, assume the backup gig.

Robert Griffin III was among those left scratching their heads about New York’s quarterback moves, tweeting: “The New York Giants have no idea what they are doing at QB. Signed Jameis Winston only to sign Russell Wilson to start over him and then drafted a Rookie QB who will get minimal reps in his redshirt year behind those 2. Lord have mercy.”
While Dart will begin the season as the third quarterback on the depth chart, the Giants do not have a long-term commitment to either of the two players ahead of him. Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million contract while Winston inked a two-year, $8 million deal.
If New York appears to be going nowhere, they could turn things over to their quarterback of the future to get him some reps at the NFL level.
