‘Joe Milton Is Gonna Take Dak’s Job’ — Cowboys Fans Ignite QB Controversy After Dallas’ $240M Star Struggles vs. Broncos

The Dallas Cowboys will want to flush their Week 8 loss as soon as possible. However, fans were ready to stir up some QB drama on social media.

The Dallas Cowboys got beat handily by the Denver Broncos, 44-24, in Week 8. The Cowboys struggled offensively and the Broncos took advantage by capitalizing on Dallas’ inability to score.

Eventually, once the game got out of hand, the Cowboys turned to Joe Milton III and benched Dak Prescott. NFL fans took to social media to react to Milton’s solid performance and Prescott’s poor showing.

Fans Start Drama on QB Play in Dallas

Cowboys fans were less than impressed with what Prescott showed on the field today. On the other hand, Milton performed in garbage time, leading a touchdown drive. Cowboys fans let it be known how they felt on social media.

“Joe Milton > Dak,” said one fan.

Another fan was ready to claim that Prescott’s starting job could be in danger with Milton ready to take over.

“Joe Milton is gonna take dak’s job watch,” said one fan.

“Joe Milton came in, and threw a dot against Riley Moss, Dak hasn’t done that all day,” said another fan.

Milton completed three of his four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown in the one drive on which he attempted a pass. Milton’s second drive consisted of three straight runs. Meanwhile, Prescott completed just 19 of his 31 pass attempts for measly 188 yards and two interceptions.

Prescott didn’t throw for any scores when operating the offense in Week 8. Fans made sure that they were counting the touchdowns between the two Dallas quarterbacks.

“Dak Prescott TDs: 0, Joe Milton TDs: 1,” said one fan.

Another fan echoed the sentiment, “Milton – 1, Dak – 0 and benched.”

The disparity in quarterback play was clear and so was the difference in time on the field between the two players.

“Joe Milton just did in two minutes what Dak couldn’t do all day,” said one fan.

Prescott signed a four-year, $240 million extension in the 2024 offseason that kicked in for the 2025 season. Despite his big contract, he was outperformed by Milton and was the third-best QB on the field, considering Bo Nix played very well for Denver.

Prescott has been great for the Cowboys, but fans were ready to pile on him as soon as he had a bad game. In the four games before the beatdown against Denver, Prescott threw for 13 touchdowns and no interceptions.

He’s been slinging it at a high level the majority of the season — he carried a B+ grade (88.8) and No. 5 ranking in PFSN’s QBi leaderboard going into the game — and today’s struggles were likely an outlier.

However, the Cowboys are below .500 once again, and Prescott must regroup and improve to get this team back on track.

It’s funny how after the Milton>Tolbert TD, it was nothing but runs on the next drive. Prob came straight from Jureh. A QB controversy is the last thing that’s needed in Big D. Prob the smartest thing my Pats did before the preseason.
