‘I’m Going for the Record’ – Jimmy Horn Jr. Wants To Rewrite the Script at 2025 NFL Combine

Colorado Buffaloes WR Jimmy Horn Jr. made a bold proclamation when asked what he will run in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

Wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. is one of five Colorado Buffaloes players attending the 2025 NFL Combine.

His teammates, WR/CB Travis Hunter, QB Shedeur Sanders, WR LaJohntay Wester, and WR Will Sheppard will join him.

While Hunter and Sanders enter the NFL Combine as two of the projected top five picks in the NFL Draft, the trio of receivers have something to prove. All are viewed as late-round picks, and as a result, none are guaranteed to be selected at all.

Jimmy Horn Jr. Boldly Says He Is Going To Set 40-Yard Dash Record at the NFL Combine

Horn had a solid season in a crowded wide receiver room. While he took a step back statistically, it is hard to fault him for that considering how many great receivers the Buffaloes had – four (if you include Hunter) are headed to Indianapolis for the Combine.

Of the four wide receivers from Colorado attending the NFL Combine, Horn had the least receiving yards. He finished the 2024 season with 37 receptions for 441 yards and one touchdown. It was a step back from his first year in Colorado, where he had 58 receptions for 567 yards and six touchdowns.

However, Horn is confident heading into the NFL Combine. In a video posted on X, he boldly said he would break the record in the 40-yard dash when asked what time he would run.

“I’m going for the record. I’m gonna be disappointed in myself if I put out some… I’ve been feeling too righteous out here to not do what I know I can do.”

Confidence is certainly not something the Colorado players are lacking as they get ready for their drills at the NFL Combine. That is not a bad thing, as confidence will be key for them to perform.

For Horn, a good performance in the NFL Combine will go a long way in improving his draft stock. Not projected to get selected early in the draft, he is fighting to ensure he’s picked in April.
