Who Is the Jets’ QB1 Tonight: Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor? Latest Rumblings as Aaron Glenn Refuses to Reveal Week 11 Starter

The New York Jets are heading to Foxborough to take on their division rival, the New England Patriots, on Thursday Night Football. The Patriots are winners of their last seven games, while the Jets have only two wins on the year, both in their last two games. One of these streaks will end tonight. The Jets haven’t even announced who will start at quarterback.

Head coach Aaron Glenn has kept quiet about his decision on whether Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor will lead the offense.

Who is Starting at QB for New York in Week 11?

The Jets haven’t officially announced their starting QB for Week 11 against New England. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported that there will likely be no change at quarterback for the Jets, and Justin Fields will be the starter for New York.

“As for the Jets, they’re 2-0 since rookie head coach Aaron Glenn decided not to reveal the identity of his starting quarterback each week, so don’t expect him to change that now,” said Graziano. “Everything I’ve been told this week indicates that Justin Fields — who has started both of those games — will get another start Thursday night against the Patriots because the team wouldn’t want to make such a big change on a short week.”

The Jets’ offense has struggled mightily in many games and wasn’t the main reason for their Week 10 victory over the Browns. Special teams touchdowns were responsible for two of their three end zone visits against Cleveland. In three of their last four games, Fields has thrown for 54 passing yards or less.

This is an extremely worrying sign, but with two wins in those games and two one-possession losses will make it tough to make a change. Although the results have been there, the offense has been brutal. Garrett Wilson has been hurt and reinjured himself against Cleveland. He will be out for the next few weeks, leaving a heavy responsibility on other weapons like Breece Hall to carry the offensive load.

The Jets offense ranks No. 28 in PFSN’s Offense Impact score with a grade of 64.6. The bright spot in the last few weeks has been Hall’s performance. It was a question of whether he would remain with the team past the trade deadline. He did and scored the lone offensive touchdown for New York in Week 10 and three touchdowns in their game before that.

Hall’s production is responsible for most of the offense, which has raised the possibility of a quarterback change. Fields hasn’t been productive at all except against a terrible Bengals defense. Graziano spoke on the possibility of Taylor getting reps as the starter.

‘”But Tyrod Taylor, who was in line to start Week 8 before a knee injury knocked him out and gave Fields another chance, is healthy now and could get into the game Thursday if Fields starts and struggles again,” said Graziano. “Then, with extra time before their Week 12 game in Baltimore, the Jets could make the move to Taylor. New York thinks Taylor would help evolve the downfield passing game a bit, which isn’t saying much.”

For now, expect to see Fields start under center against New England. He will likely have a short leash if he struggles against a very good Patriots team. The Jets will hope Fields can get something going against New England as they look to extend their win streak and take down one of the hottest teams in football.

#UPDATE: With less than two hours before the game, NFL insider Albert Breer reported that Fields is expected to start for the Jets tonight.
