The New York Jets need to improve their roster, and adding talent across the board will be a priority in the offseason. The wide receiver group is a mess, with Garrett Wilson the only player who’s truly capable of being a starter in the league, and this could result in a new star in the draft.
Jets Projected To Take KC Concepcion With the 16th Overall Pick in NFL Draft
New York has two first-round picks in 2026 as a result of Sauce Gardner’s trade midway through the past season. They’re expected to take a major talent with the second overall pick, but they can also address another area of the roster later in the day.
A trade down is a possible scenario both times.
The latest 3-round PFSN Mock Draft written by Ryan Moran splits the two picks between the units. And the wide receiver group is addressed by the addition of KC Concepcion, who shone during his final season at Texas A&M and rose on draft boards during the NFL Combine, with the 16th overall pick.
“The Jets must add a wide receiver to go along with Garrett Wilson. KC Concepcion, out of Texas A&M, is an elite athlete with big-play ability. He has the versatility to take schemed touches around the line of scrimmage for big plays,” Moran notes.
“Concepcion also has the explosion and speed to provide the Jets offense with big plays down the field. His release package getting off the line of scrimmage against the press is one of the best in this class. Concepcion could give the Jets offense the jolt it needs with explosive plays.”
Concepcion finished the 2025 season with 61 receptions, 919 yards, and 9 touchdowns, which netted him a grade of 81.5 in our PFSN CFB Wide Receiver Impact Metric, enough to place him at No. 19.
With 29 total career touchdowns, he is considered the No. 4 receiver in our big board for the 2026 class.
During the NFL Combine, despite his excellent performance, he made the news for another reason. Concepcion has a speech impediment, which became evident when he stepped onto the podium.
He was quickly defended by members of the NFL world, including former kicker and two-time Super Bowl champion Lawrence Tynes.
Interviews during the NFL Combine also helped Concepcion’s stock.
Reports from Indianapolis say the prospect had “great interviews” with teams and spoke about his concentration problems as a way to improve his drops. “It’s something I have to work on. I’m going to work every day to fix it, and once I get that chance, I’m going to catch every ball.”
