Jets Floated To Pair Garrett Wilson With 21-TD Free Agent WR in 2026 NFL Season

Romeo Doubs emerges as a free agent target for the New York Jets, aiming to complement Garrett Wilson ahead of the 2026 season.

There is not a lot to look forward to as a New York Jets fan. The Jets enter the 2026 offseason coming off a 3-14 season and are facing major questions about the direction of their offense.

Despite uncertainty at quarterback, the Jets still have a clear foundation in place with wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall. A recent projection suggests New York could pursue a young free-agent wide receiver to strengthen the passing attack.

Jets Linked to Free Agent Receiver Romeo Doubs

PFSN NFL analyst Jacob Infante highlighted Romeo Doubs as a receiver capable of drawing interest from teams searching for reliable production alongside an established top target. The up-and-coming receiver is set to become a free agent and already has 21 career touchdowns to his name.

Infante listed the New York Jets as a potential landing spot for Doubs and characterized him as a reliable complementary target during his four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, noting that the wide receiver has steadily improved throughout his NFL career.

Doubs wrapped up the 2025 season with a career-high 724 receiving yards and posted a strong targeted passer rating of 115.9.

“You’re not signing Doubs to be your WR1; you’re bringing him in as a big-bodied starter who can pair well with the top guy in your offense. Steady producers at receiver make big money in the NFL, especially if you’re still only 25 years old like Doubs is,” Infante wrote, while also linking him to the Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The projection estimates Doubs could command a contract worth roughly two years and $12.9 million per season once free agency begins.

Doubs Could Complement Garrett Wilson in Reworked Jets Offense

Adding a receiver like Doubs would give New York another dependable option opposite Wilson, who has carried much of the Jets’ passing game since entering the league.

The offense is undergoing changes. The Jets hired Frank Reich as offensive coordinator, and reports have already linked veteran quarterback Carson Wentz as a possible option under center. New York also holds the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft but is expected to draft a defensive player.

Regardless of who ultimately takes the snaps, strengthening the supporting cast around Wilson and Hall is a must.

Doubs built a reputation as a reliable starter across four seasons with Green Bay. He finished the 2025 season with a career-high 724 receiving yards and posted a 77.9 WR Impact Score in PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact Metric. Doubs has also delivered in high-leverage moments. He has recorded just two 100-yard games during his career, and both came in the playoffs.

The 25-year-old has also shown a nose for the end zone, producing 21 touchdown receptions across his first four seasons. That scoring ability, combined with steady production, fits the profile of a complementary receiver who can help balance an offense built around Wilson.

If New York ultimately adds another wide receiver in free agency, pairing a steady producer like Doubs with Wilson would give the Jets a more balanced passing attack as the franchise attempts to make some type of noise heading into the 2026 season.
