The New York Jets signed Justin Fields this offseason to be their new starting quarterback. Fields spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers following an unsuccessful stint with the Chicago Bears. While relatively successful in Pittsburgh, the former first-round pick hopes to establish himself as a legitimate NFL starter in the Big Apple.
Jets’ Justin Fields Goes Viral for New Look, Improved Footwork
The circumstances around this signing may add some pressure to the Ohio State product. He is replacing Aaron Rodgers as the Jets’ quarterback after all, and Jets fans are hungry for a quarterback who can lead them back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010. New York released Rodgers shortly after the hiring of Aaron Glenn as the new head coach.
Playing for a first-time head coach is never easy, and only adds to the pressure on Fields. Glenn spent the last four seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, where he helped build the Lions into one of the NFL’s best teams.
There’s certainly a challenge stepping into the Jets’ offense under these circumstances, but it appears Fields is more than ready. And there has already been some noted improvement from the Ohio State product.
Jets Fans, Football World React to Viral Justin Fields Video
Fields, obviously, hasn’t played a snap for New York. However, he has already started getting some work in ahead of the new season. He took part in throwing drills that the team posted to its social media on Tuesday.

Immediately, fans noticed a new look for Fields. Some focused in on his bulked-up physique, while others saw a more subtle improvement in his footwork. As a whole, they noted a substantial upgrade from what they had seen previously.
The football world came together on social media to react to the video, with some major accounts hyping up the transformation. A few even said it’s the best Fields has looked in his professional career.
Of course, Jets fans also shared their excitement. It’s a small glimpse into the work their new quarterback has put in this spring, but it was enough to get the fanbase excited for what could be ahead in 2025.
One user commented, “Justin Fields footwork and throwing motion is looking better than ever.” Another expressed their excitement, writing, “Incredibly excited to see what he can do with a organization that fully believes in him. All the upside in the world.”
Of course, it’s only practice footage. Fields isn’t in pads, and he’s not facing a defense—at least, not from what anyone can tell. That’s not to discredit the improvements made. But putting too much stock into offseason clips can be a tricky game.
Fields and Jets’ Weapons Look Primed for Rebound Season
Fields certainly has the talent around him to succeed with the Jets. He has a legitimate No. 1 receiver in Garrett Wilson, and an intriguing running back in Breece Hall. While the defense took a minor step back last season, it still ranked 15th in the PFSN Defense+ Metric, while Glenn’s Lions finished 5th. The pairing could be a match made in heaven for Jets fans.
That’s not even mentioning the 2025 NFL Draft. The Jets own the No. 7 overall pick in April. If the board falls the right way, New York could further complement Fields with another offensive weapon.
It’s way too early to declare Fields has completely turned things around. But there’s a real chance he succeeds—especially with the full backing of Glenn and the Jets’ new front office.
