“I hate this team.” Do you remember when a teenage New York Jets fan said this in 2024 when asked about the franchise’s losing history? The same scenario occurred on Dec. 21 when the New York team lost to the New Orleans Saints. But this time, the franchise is not at the center stage, but first-year head coach Aaron Glenn.
The New York Jets’ Week 16 matchup against the New Orleans Saints ended in another embarrassing loss for the struggling franchise, and the fanbase is in full revolt. The Jets suffered another loss on Sunday, falling 23 points behind the Saints.
New York Fans Take Jab at Head Coach Aaron Glenn After Devastating Loss
After the Jets’ disappointing performance, outraged supporters took to X to vent their frustrations with head coach Glenn, labeling him a “horrible head coach” and demanding accountability from the organization.
New York (3-11) entered Sunday determined to snap its losing skid, but what unfolded was more of the same. Head coach Glenn’s decisions, which were questionable fourth-down approaches to a lack of offensive creativity, drew the ire of many fans online.
The Jets’ continued downward spiral has amplified frustrations that have been building all season in a campaign that’s seen New York consistently out-coached and out-played. And now, they are 3-12 after Week 16.
That’s why a fan took to X (formerly Twitter), and wrote, “Aaron Glenn is a horrible head coach, and we’re stuck with this stiff for another losing season next year.” Another fan reacted, saying, “Idc what the roster is. There has to be a better coach next year than Aaron Glenn. This guy is either in tank mode or the worst coach in the league.”

Meanwhile, another fan wrote, “Aaron Glenn is not a head coach in this league.” The 2025 season is Glenn’s first year as a head coach in his post-NFL retirement career, and it has turned out to be a losing year.
Though Glenn has never head-coached a team, he was associated with the Cleveland Browns as an assistant defensive backs coach, the Saints as DB coach, with the Detroit Lions as defensive coordinator. Then he was picked up by the Jets in the 2025 offseason.
But as the Jets face another losing year, the fans are not having it. “It’s just so hard to watch what s-cks the most, though, is I have ZERO faith in Aaron Glenn’s coaching-I predict another year of no playoffs if he’s the head coach next season,” a fan wrote on X when the points gap between the Jets and the Saints was 20.
Meanwhile, a report by NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero revealed something different for the 2026 NFL season for the Jets.
Is Glenn Really on the Hot Seat?
In the latest report, Rapoport and Pelissero indicate a high probability of Glenn’s return.
“Aaron Glenn’s first season as head coach has been filled with adversity: An 0-7 start,” insiders wrote. “Trading two of the franchise’s best players (Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams). Benching quarterback Justin Fields. A 3-11 record that has them in the running for the No. 1 pick.”
The report lastly says, “But faith in Glenn — once a Jets defensive back — remains strong inside the building. The culture is forming. The expectation is he’ll return in 2026.”
Per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the “one-and-done” scenario for Glenn has never been a consideration for the Jets because the organization knew entering this season they were in for a multiyear rebuild, and they want to establish “a foundation and culture,” while “trusting Glenn’s long-term plan.”
So, the Jets might not fire Aaron Glenn in the offseason.
