After winning back-to-back games over the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, the New York Jets fell to the New England Patriots 27-14 to open up Week 11 on “Thursday Night Football.”
New York opened up the scoring in the first quarter, and it appeared as though the Jets were heading toward a third straight win. Nonetheless, after that score, it was all downhill for head coach Aaron Glenn and his team.
Aaron Glenn’s Future With the Jets as a Head Coach
The Jets traded away Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner, but the first-year head coach isn’t concerned about securing a top draft pick; instead, he’s looking to build a culture and set a standard in New York.
Nonetheless, after falling to 2-8, the question is whether the Jets will end Glenn’s tenure after one year. For FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd, New York needs to head back to the drawing board.
“That Aaron Rodgers story about his weird, brief encounter [with] Aaron Glenn, feels like a clue now, the Jets new coach probably wouldn’t be a home run,” Cowherd wrote Thursday on X.

In the loss to the Patriots, the Jets struggled again in the passing game, with Justin Fields going 15 of 26 on his passes for 116 passing yards while recording one passing touchdown.
Was Glenn’s Handling of Aaron Rodgers a Concerning Sign?
Fields isn’t the solution for the Jets at quarterback, but as Cowherd pointed out, he doesn’t see Glenn as the long-term answer for New York either. The Aaron Rodgers story he mentioned refers to how Glenn chose to part ways with the veteran quarterback in his first significant roster move as head coach.
Rodgers said the decision to release him was made less than a minute into the meeting, explaining that Glenn acted independently and appeared concerned that the former Green Bay Packers star would undermine his authority.
“I was kind of shocked,” Rodgers said about Glenn’s way of handling his situation during an April 17 appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” (h/t ESPN).

“I was kind of shocked. Not shocked because I didn’t think it was a possibility, but shocked because I just flew across the country and you could’ve told me this over the phone.”
Despite Glenn wanting to put his stamp as a first-time NFL head coach, it’s all spiraled out of control. In late October, Jets owner Woody Johnson criticized Fields, who was hand-picked by this regime as the starting quarterback, and now the entire season could fall on Glenn amid this disastrous campaign.
