The New York Jets are having a disaster of a season, and it has a chance to get worse when they take on the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.
Surprisingly, the Jets have won back-to-back games after starting the season 0-7.
However, they are massive underdogs tonight against the team leading the AFC East. One player the Jets will be without in this game is wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Garrett Wilson Headed to IR
Unfortunately for the Jets, they will be without Wilson for at least the next four games after placing him on injured reserve with a knee injury.
This is the same knee Wilson injured a few weeks earlier, forcing him to miss two games.
He reaggravated the injury against the Browns this past weekend, and now it may cost him the rest of the season.

Wilson is eligible to return in Week 15, but at that point, the Jets will likely be eliminated from playoff contention. They will have to decide if it is even worth bringing him back.
New York has one of the worst offenses in football and has a slim chance to turn things around this season. Their 64.6 Offense Impact Score is 28th in the NFL, and things will only get worse without Wilson.
The Jets’ trade-deadline moves strongly implied that they are playing for the future. Acquiring three first-round picks in trades will allow them to add plenty of young talent over the subsequent two drafts.
It makes sense for the Jets to tank and try to get the best possible draft pick. They need to find a franchise quarterback, and they seem set to do so over the next two seasons.
Jets Making Moves To Get Out of Purgatory
The Jets have been the laughingstock of the NFL for quite some time. They have not been to the playoffs since 2010 and have only had one winning season in that span. Amongst many problems, the Jets have not been able to find the right coach or quarterback.

Despite selecting multiple quarterbacks in the top 10, none of them have worked out over the past 15 years. Geno Smith, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson were all drafted by the Jets with the idea of being their franchise quarterback, and all have flopped during their time in the Big Apple.
The Jets will likely use the draft picks mentioned above to find a new franchise quarterback. Even though it hasn’t worked out for them lately, they have to keep trying. Aaron Glenn is likely to remain the head coach for the foreseeable future, and once they get the quarterback right, this franchise may finally turn around.
