The unthinkable just became reality. Thanks to his performance on the field in his three seasons as an NFL superstar, Micah Parsons seemed like the latest in a long line of all-time greats for the Dallas Cowboys. However, a contract negotiation gone sideways has now led to one of the most baffling decisions from an organization in recent memory.
As a result, the four-time Pro Bowler is moving to Green Bay in a league-shattering move. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst, who has historically been averse to making blockbuster trades, just pulled off one of the biggest in NFL history. It has immediately shifted the conversation for playoff and Super Bowl threats.
Understandably, the entire sports world was left in shock with fans taking to social media within moments to air their thoughts.
Micah Parsons Trade Leads to Pandemonium
Usually, there are multiple sides to a coin, especially in a trade business for a legitimate superstar. However, the one consensus among the entire NFL fan base was the egregious error committed by Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones.
After a protracted negotiation with both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb last year, the situation became much worse for the star defender this year. Jones went so far as to call out the ace on his defensive unit’s health while questioning his popularity.
As it went from bad to ugly, Parsons’s hopes of a new deal were starting to fade. Eventually, though, the Packers swooped in with a trade while extending him to a four-year deal worth $188 million, which comfortably made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history by a wide margin.

The Dallas fan base turned X into a hellfire calling for their general manager’s head. Comments like “Jerry Jones is horrendous,” and “Jerry Jones is so dumb lol” flooded social media. One fan went a step further, writing, “BRO IS JERRY JONES A F****** IDIOT????” an overwhelming norm instead of the exception.

However, the move also exposed a larger problem for Jones and the Cowboys. For years, the owner of the most valuable franchise in American sports has perpetuated the value of being in the news.
Jerry Jones has never cared about actually winning

This move, like the continuous drama surrounding the team the last two offseasons, seemed to confirm one simple fact for most of the fanbase. “Jerry Jones has never cared about actually winning.”
Only one man can trade his franchise player to a rival…. Jerry Jones Folks pic.twitter.com/i3nF3qa31j

Adding to that statement, another fan pointed to the most obvious part of the ordeal. “Only one man can trade his franchise player to a rival… Jerry Jones Folks.”
The move has virtually solidified Dallas’ chances of a playoff run, after they already had questions with Parsons on the roster.

Finally, thanks to his brutal handling of the franchise as a whole and the unbelievably perplexing decision to trade Parsons, fans were calling for his firing, with one fan hilariously stating, “Jerry Jones should fire himself.”

It isn’t typical for the entire fan base to be united about a trade, but the Parsons deal, much like the Luka Dončić trade earlier in the year, has united the city of Dallas against a common enemy, their team’s general manager.
While many Cowboys fans have “gotten used to” almost constant holdouts from Cowboys stars, Parsons struck a different chord.
Known as one of — if not the best — defensive players in the league, Parsons reportedly just wanted a contract showing his worth to the team. Fans pleaded for Jones to pay him, but now, the team will be without its defensive anchor.
