Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has garnered many fans, most notably his mother, Regina, who had a short message regarding her son and the upcoming 2025 season. Her comments follow one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history.
In 2024, Daniels put together an impressive rookie campaign. From his dual-threat ability in the passing and running games to the incredible poise he showed in late-game situations, Daniels was sensational to watch.
Chatter About Daniels Reaches Fever Pitch
As noted by PFSN earlier this year, Daniels’ heroics leading Washington to the NFL playoffs have sparked intense conversations. In the NFC Divisional Round, the Commanders faced the NFC’s No. 1 seed and Super Bowl favorites in the Detroit Lions.
Rather than wilt under pressure, Daniels led a supercharged Washington offense, securing multiple third- and fourth-down conversions to keep drives alive. The Commanders won 45-31. Even before the final whistle, radio talk-show host Jim Rome was ready to crown Daniels.
I don’t even care how this game ends. Jayden Daniels is the best rookie quarterback I have ever see. Tell me one who’s better. I’ll wait.

“I don’t even care how this game ends. Jayden Daniels is the best rookie quarterback I have ever seen. Tell me one who’s better. I’ll wait,” Rome posted on X back in January.
While it seems like a bold proclamation at face value, it isn’t entirely without merit. During the regular season, Daniels accumulated more than 4,000 yards between his passing and rushing games. He added 31 total touchdowns against just nine interceptions and led Washington on five game-winning drives.
Moreover, for a franchise that did not make major roster changes over the offseason, Daniels almost single-handedly transformed them from a four-win team into Conference Championship attendees.
Jayden Daniels’ Mother Speaks on Sophomore Season
Referring to her son’s jersey number and calling him “Cinco,” Regina Daniels posted an Instagram Story that featured an image of her son with the caption, “Year 2 for Cinco. Gonna be a show.”

Regina is evidently excited for her son’s sophomore season, and she’s not alone. After a 2024 campaign where Daniels earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and led the surprise Commanders to the NFC Championship Game, former quarterback Rex Grossman was asked by Newsweek what he expects from the second-year QB in 2025.
“I don’t see (regression). The best thing that he’s got going for him is his throwing ability. He’s got a strong arm, he’s accurate, and he’s got touch. He’s got the full package in throwing the ball. And it seems like he understands the game pretty well,” Grossman said.
Grossman went on to compliment Daniels’ running ability and overall skillset. “He doesn’t need to rely on running, but, man, if you don’t contain him, he’s gone. I expect him to have a great year and, if he just repeats what he did last year, it’ll be a great year.”
If Grossman is correct, and we think he is, there’s no reason to think Daniels won’t make his mother proud and give us all a show.
