The success that the Seattle Seahawks have had throughout the 2025 NFL season has been a complete team effort. Rather than excelling in one particular area, the roster has been stellar at every level, thanks to an excellent job by head coach Mike Macdonald.
However, the most surprising performance on the roster has been from Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Establishing himself as the clear-cut WR1, he is on a historic pace this season, which could see him rewrite the history books. With a chance to add to his total against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13, though, the superstar wide receiver was off to a slow start.

What Happened to Jaxon Smith-Njigba?
A 13-0 lead for the Seahawks felt all too commonplace against Minnesota. Making a living on early leads, Seattle was once again dominant as the Vikings were forced to play the game with third-string quarterback Max Brosmer in the starting lineup.
However, the offense could not get going all night long, with a pick-six by Ernest Jones IV serving as the key difference between the two sides. Smith-Njigba, who was on pace to break the 2,000-yard threshold coming into the game, was almost nowhere to be found.

Yet to record a single reception in the Seahawks’ run-heavy offense, he was just targeted twice in the first half, thanks to a bizarre game plan by Seattle and an excellent defensive masterclass by Brian Flores.
Ranking at number 1 in the entire league on PFSN’s WR Impact, the production from Njigba had been nothing short of extraordinary. Through 11 games, he had 1,313 receiving yards and seven touchdowns to his name.
On pace to cross the 2,000-yard threshold, what made his production even more astounding was the 70 receptions at a ridiculous 16.3 yards per catch rate that made him a truly terrifying threat on the gridiron.
The game turned into a complete shutout, as Seattle cruised their way to a comfortable 26-0 victory. However, Smith-Njigba did not play a major role in the second half either, finishing the game with just two catches for 23 yards as the defense forced four interceptions on Brosmer.
