The 2026 free agency period started off in fast and furious fashion for fans around the NFL, but following an eventful Day 1, the pace of signings has unsurprisingly slowed.
This was largely due to the talent pool being much smaller and teams being more selective about the contracts they offered.
Some available players are still excellent options for teams, and for franchises that need WRs, the top remaining player is Jauan Jennings.
Teams That Could Be the Next Destination for WR Jauan Jennings
The San Francisco 49ers selected Jennings in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he did not appear in any regular-season games as a rookie and generated a relatively modest 78-963-7 line over 45 contests from 2021-2023 while filling a complementary role.
Jennings then put together a career-best season in 2024, finishing 28th overall in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric after recording a career-high 77 receptions and 975 yards, along with 6 touchdown receptions.
While injuries prevented the 2025 campaign from being as productive, Jennings was still one of Brock Purdy and Mac Jones’ most reliable targets.
Now heading into his age-29 season, Jennings has hit the open market for the first time and is seeking the first lucrative contract of his career.
New England Patriots
A team that has worked to rebuild its WR room this offseason is the New England Patriots, and although they made a significant signing in Romeo Doubs, there is still work to be done.
Jennings would seemingly be a good fit alongside Doubs and an effective red-zone option for the burgeoning Drake Maye.
If the Patriots do end up signing Jennings, it would likely be because they were unable to trade for Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown. There have been many rumors linking the two parties, especially given HC Mike Vrabel’s successful history with Brown from their days with the Tennessee Titans.
However, for the time being, Brown remains on the Eagles roster.
Washington Commanders
Since free agency began, the Washington Commanders have been looking for a new WR to pair with Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels.
So far, they have struck out on many of the top names. Now, Jennings is the next best option.
Jennings’ age may be somewhat of a deterrent for Washington given the team has had mixed success with older players, but he does complement McLaurin well.
At 6-foot-3, Jennings is a contested-catch threat that would serve as a security blanket for Daniels, especially in the red zone.
New York Giants
The next potential team is the Commanders’ division rival, the New York Giants. Similar to the potential fit between McLaurin and Jennings, the Giants would likely benefit from lining Jennings up alongside their WR1, 2024 first-round pick Malik Nabers.

Also, Jennings would be an excellent addition for second-year QB Jaxson Dart, who is looking to improve on a highly promising rookie season.
With New York having lost the reliable Wan’Dale Robinson to the Titans in free agency, there is a void at WR2, and Jennings would seemingly be an ideal replacement.
