A lot of pieces are still moving around at the New York Giants, as new head coach John Harbaugh is building his staff for the 2026 NFL season. Heading into quarterback Jaxson Dart’s second year, it’s important to provide him with the necessary support to be successful.
Who should be the Giants’ next OC?
Which OC Candidates Does One Giants QB Back To Join New HC John Harbaugh?
Veteran quarterback Jameis Winston is familiar with turnover in the NFL, and he highlighted potential offensive coordinators who’d complement Dart’s style well.
Harbaugh enters a crucial period in his first year with one of the most storied franchises in NFL history. Establishing a solid cast of characters is essential for strong initial results, and a top priority is hiring the right offensive coordinator for Dart.
Winston has spent 11 years in the NFL, getting to know the ins and outs of systems, and he believes there are a couple of potential OC candidates who’d pair well with Dart.
“I’m looking at Davis Webb, [who’s] been in the talks,” he mentioned on “Up & Adams.”
Davis Webb? Charlie Weis Jr.?

Davis Webb entered coaching talks on the back of building the Denver Broncos’ pass game into one of the league’s best. He started his coaching stint in 2023, right after his playing career, as he was hired by Denver to help coach the quarterback room.
Ahead of the 2025 campaign, he was promoted to offensive pass game coordinator while retaining his role as quarterbacks coach. However, his connection to the Giants goes back to 2017, when the team drafted him in the third round to add depth to the quarterback room.
Winston, on the other hand, notably pointed to LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. as a stronger candidate than Webb.
“But with us having Jaxson Dart — and seeing how Ole Miss did this year in the college football playoffs — what if we mix Charlie Weis Jr. in the mix?” he added. “What if we get him to ‘decommit’? What if we get him in the ‘pro portal’ — the ‘NFL portal’ — and become an offensive coordinator for the New York Football Giants? But I’m looking out for our young quarterback, and I want him to be around people that he’s familiar with. I want him to have a great second year, ’cause I know how important that is.”
Weis coached Dart for most of his college career before the Giants drafted him in 2025. Winston, therefore, thinks the familiarity factor will provide the young quarterback with the foundation needed for a strong second year in the league. He ranked 18th among shot-callers last season according to PFSN’s QB Impact metric.
How Harbaugh moves forward with his coaching hires will be interesting to see.
