The Arizona Cardinals hosted the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11, where quarterback Jacoby Brissett achieved a rare milestone with his performance. While Brissett is getting recognition for his impressive game, fans seem a little off with the fact that his performance couldn’t lead the team to victory.
Fans Blast Jacoby Brissett After Announcement of His Latest Honor
Brissett on Monday put up a great effort against the 49ers, but still they suffered a 41-22 defeat. Brissett’s efforts were record-setting, as he completed 47 of the 57 passes he threw.
It was an exceptional performance that brought his name to the top of the record list. Previously, the crown was on Rams QB Jared Goff, who completed 45 passes in 2019, and Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe, who did the same over three decades ago in 1994.
The 32-year-old player took the responsibility of starter QB mid-season and has started five games for the team. So far, he has completed 142 of 213 passes for 1,570 yards with 10 touchdowns, and thanks to his impressive performance, he is currently ranking number 16 in PFSN’s QB Impact.
His game on Monday was really a rare one. For that, he is honored, as the jersey he wore is now being displayed at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. But Cardinals fans who haven’t overcome the frustration of losing to San Francisco in a one-sided game have flooded social media with not-so-sweet messages.
Under an X post sharing this accomplishment of the Cardinals QB, one fan tauntingly wrote, “Still lost by 20.” While another one called it embarrassing: “This is embarrassing for the organization, which makes sense.”
One fan believes it’s kind of bad that this huge accomplishment came in a match where the team faced a brutal defeat: “Too bad it was in a 20 point loss….”
One fan, clearly upset with the loss, tries to undermine Brissett’s performance by mentioning that two of his throws were intercepted and the team eventually lost: “he also threw 2 picks and lost the game.”
Most of the throws were made in the second half when the game already seemed to slip out of their hands, and one fan, mentioning this fact, called the QB’s accomplishment a joke: “This sh*t has to be a joke 😭 Cards lost by 20 and most of these completions were in the 2nd half when the game was out of reach.” While another one called it crazy: “Glazing garbage time stats is crazy.”
One fan admits Brissett’s performance was impressive but believes the jersey shouldn’t be on display, as the team had suffered a loss in the game: “Very impressive performance and I’m a big Jacoby fan. But no jersey should be on display in Canton in a loss. 2 INTs.”
Cardinals fans are frustrated with the brutal defeat, so their reactions are obvious. But there’s no denying that Brissett’s performance was exceptional and will be remembered for a long time. Hopefully, the Cardinals’ QB will bring the same energy to their next game in Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
