What Happened to Isiah Pacheco? Latest Update on Chiefs RB’s Injury and Return Timeline

Isiah Pacheco is not playing for the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. Here is the latest update on his injury and return timeline.

The Kansas City Chiefs enter Week 12 with their lead back still working through a sprained MCL suffered late in Week 8 against the Washington Commanders. Pacheco missed Week 9, and the Week 10 bye served as part of his recovery window. However, he will not play in Week 12.

Latest Update on Isiah Pacheco’s Injury

Pacheco’s injury has been described as an MCL sprain with a week-to-week designation. He did not practice at all last week coming out of the bye, and the club’s first Week 12 injury report will establish whether he begins ramping with limited work or remains sidelined, which would point to another absence. Day-of coverage frames his chances to play as uncertain until visibility in practice emerges.

Fantasy reporting aligns with that timeline, noting that players often return from MCL sprains in approximately three to four weeks, once stability tests and function allow.

Pacheco’s sequence has reached the three-week mark when counting the bye, but there is no guarantee he is ready without demonstrable progress in practice. The lack of an injured reserve designation remains a modest positive, indicating the team did not initially expect a multi-week absence beyond four.

When Will Isiah Pacheco Return?

Current projections consider Pacheco to be available for Week 13 as he returned to practice in the lead-up to the game against the Indianapolis Colts.

From a timetable perspective, MCL sprains vary in severity and impact on player function. The standard return window cited by multiple outlets is four to six weeks for more significant sprains and three to four weeks for lower-grade injuries, depending on joint stability and pain tolerance during football movements.

Pacheco’s absence has spanned three games plus the bye, so a Week 13 activation would be within the earlier band if practice validates readiness.
