Is Zay Flowers Injured? Breaking Down if the Ravens WR Is Hurt After Slow Start on TNF vs. Dolphins

After being a dependable presence during Lamar Jackson's absence, WR Zay Flowers has gotten off to a slow start on Thursday Night Football.

With huge expectations heading into the 2025 season, the Baltimore Ravens have limped out to a 2-5 start with some big names sitting on the sidelines for an extended period. After having Lamar Jackson sidelined for the last three weeks, Baltimore welcomed him back with open arms as they needed a spark for their offense.

While wide receiver Zay Flowers was able to produce during his absence, he has struggled so far in the Week 9 Thursday Night Football matchup against the Miami Dolphins.

What Happened to Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers?

No, Flowers is not injured; in fact, he was not on the injury report all week. He has not been on the injury report since the Ravens’ Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, where he was dealing with a shoulder injury. He was all good to go this week, though.

While he has been a solid, consistent presence during a season when the offense has missed some key faces, catching 18 passes for 181 yards over the past three weeks, he wasn’t able to find space against the Dolphins’ secondary in the first half, catching two passes for 17 yards. He’s had plenty of opportunities on the field outsnapping his fellow wideouts.

In eight games this season, Flowers has hauled in 41 of 55 targets for 486 yards and one touchdown. What was more impressive was that he was able to maintain his production while catching passes from Cooper Rush and Tyler “Snoop” Huntley during Jackson’s absence. Flowers is currently ranked 10th among receivers based on PFSN’s WR Impact metric.

Many thought the return of Jackson would mean a bigger game from Flowers, similar to his 143-yard, touchdown performance against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. Unfortunately, the chemistry has not been there as Jackson has been heavily targeting his tight ends against Miami.

Flowers was able to break 1,000 yards last season and seems to be on that trajectory this season, with just under 500 yards halfway through the season. However, if he’s unable to gain some yards in the second half, that pace will be much harder to maintain.

Baltimore came out firing in the second half, driving right down the field to score another touchdown to take a 21-6 lead. Should the Dolphins start to key in on the tight ends defensively, Flowers could begin to find some areas in the defense where he can increase his production on Thursday Night Football. No matter if they get him going, though, it seems like the Ravens have this one wrapped up.
