With the New England Patriots roaring ahead with a 30-7 halftime lead over the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football,” quarterback Drake Maye has done a stellar job of running the Patriots’ offense all night long.
Besides Maye, though, another key player for the Patriots is one of their star running backs, TreVeyon Henderson, who was not involved much in the first half.
What Happened to TreVeyon Henderson?
So far this season, Henderson has been a pretty decent option out of the backfield for New England.
As the Patriots jumped out to a big lead, getting everyone involved in the offense mattered to Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel.

What about Henderson? In the first half, he had five carries for 25 yards and no touchdowns. His longest carry so far on Monday night was a 13-yard scamper. With the Giants not putting up much of a fight at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., Henderson might get some more carries in the second half. He’s also had two catches for seven yards on the receiving end.
According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Henderson has an impact score of 75.8 and grades out to a C+. Entering Monday night’s game, Henderson had 118 carries for 558 yards and five touchdowns. He’s averaging 4.7 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Henderson also has been a target for Maye’s passes downfield. So far this season, Henderson has 29 catches for 180 yards and one receiving touchdown. Henderson was a second-round draft pick (No. 38 overall) by New England in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.
Henderson played a significant role in helping establish the Buckeyes as one of college football’s premier programs under Ohio State head coach Ryan Day. Now, he is doing his part in helping the Patriots make a run toward clinching the AFC East Division title.
There’s a history of greatness for the Patriots’ organization, something that has been somewhat lacking over the past couple of seasons.
Now, though, with Vrabel on board as the Patriots’ head coach, Henderson and Co. are well on their way to, once again, establishing “The Patriot Way” of playing ball in the NFL. The rookie running back will look to add to his stat sheet by running headlong into the teeth of the Giants’ defense on Monday night.
