Is TreVeyon Henderson Injured? A Look at the Patriots RB’s Injury Status After Slow Start in AFC Title Game vs. Broncos

Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson is off to a slow start in the AFC Championship Game against the Broncos. Here's the latest on his status.

With the New England Patriots scoring a second-quarter touchdown, they tied things up at 7-7 with less than a minute left in the first half against the Denver Broncos on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game.

But Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has been rather quiet throughout the first 30 minutes of the game. The teams entered halftime tied at 7-7 after the Patriots and Broncos missed field goals late in the second quarter.

What Happened to Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson?

After the Broncos took a 7-0 lead on a Jarrett Stidham touchdown pass to Courtland Sutton, the Patriots got the ball back deep in Denver territory in the second quarter.

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye kept the ball and dashed into the end zone, tying things up at 7-7.

Henderson, though, has only gotten one carry for four yards in the game. That’s it for the New England running back, who is one of the key elements of Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel’s offensive plans.

At this point, it does not look like Henderson is injured at all. So, it’ll be interesting to see if the rookie gets more carries in the second half.

According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact Metric, which is measured throughout the regular season, Henderson had an impact score of 66.9 and graded out to a D. In the regular season, Henderson had 180 carries for 911 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry.

Also, Henderson has been an option out of the backfield for Maye throughout the regular season, too. He recorded 35 catches for 221 yards and one touchdown catch. Henderson was a second-round draft pick (No. 38 overall) out of Ohio State by the Patriots in the 2025 NFL Draft.

New England only had 43 rushing yards in the first half, so that number has to go up for the Patriots. The offense wants to keep the Broncos’ defense on its toes while trying to secure a victory on the road at a cold Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.

With the game tied at 7-7 entering the third quarter, Henderson will need to step up his game from the backfield. New England wants to get back to the Super Bowl, a place that the franchise has been in throughout its illustrious career.
