Is Travis Kelce Injured? Why the Chiefs Superstar TE Is Has Been Absent in Super Bowl 59 vs. Eagles

The end of a legendary career may be upon us. For many folks, it looks like Super Bowl 59 might be the final game of Travis Kelce’s legendary career. The tight end has been a part of three Super Bowl victories and a pillar of the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty.

He’ll go down as an all-time great, but with his career winding down and numbers dwindling, fans have begun to wonder if Kelce was active to play in the Super Bowl.

    Is Travis Kelce Injured?

No, Kelce wasn’t dealing with an injury of any sort going into the Super Bowl. Having been on a relatively healthy run throughout his career, the legendary TE has managed to stave off injuries.

However, through the first quarter, he hasn’t been involved in the offense. So far, the Chiefs have struggled to find any kind of offensive momentum against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that ranked second on PFSN’s Defense+ metric.

And Kelce has been suffering as a result too. With just two targets, the Kelce and Patrick Mahomes connection, which is the greatest in NFL playoff history hasn’t found much success, missing on both attempts.

As a result, he has yet to record a single yard in the game. For Kansas City to find a victory and make history, Kelce must find his rhythm once again.

The Chiefs are aiming to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. Kansas City has won three of the last five Super Bowls and will be the first NFL team to play in five Super Bowls over a six-season span.

There has never been a Super Bowl three-peat in NFL history. In a league with so much parity, winning three consecutive Super Bowls is an extremely difficult feat. It’s worth noting that the Green Bay Packers won three consecutive NFL championships in 1965, 1966, and 1967, but the first title was before the Super Bowl was implemented.

The Chiefs hope to become the first team to achieve this feat in the Super Bowl era at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Feb. 9, 2025. If they hoist the Lombardi Trophy once again, their dynastic run will make NFL history and go down as one of the most impressive stretches in all of professional sports.
