Jacksonville Jaguars rookie sensation Travis Hunter was out on the field on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, doing his best to make a difference.
Hunter has been making headlines for his efforts toward hopefully being a two-way player in the NFL. Yet he wasn’t really making a huge difference for Jacksonville, as the Chiefs held a 14-7 halftime lead.
What’s Wrong With Travis Hunter?
While Hunter may be doing his best to get free downfield for Lawrence, it hasn’t really panned out.
Is he hurt? Hunter does not appear to be injured at all. Yet the lack of involvement in the Jaguars’ offense might lead some fans to think he is not 100 percent.

In the first half, Hunter was held to just one catch for 12 yards. In fact, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence only targeted him once.
Early in the second half, Hunter made a circus catch over a Chiefs player for a 44-yard reception. As Hunter went up in the air, he was upended but was not injured.
Entering his rookie season, Hunter had plenty of college football hardware to his name. He won the 2024 Heisman Trophy, becoming the first two-way player to win it since Charles Woodson. Hunter was a first-round pick (2nd overall) for the Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Hunter played college ball at Jackson State and Colorado, both times with Deion Sanders as his head coach. Other college honors included the Walter Camp Award, Chuck Bednarik Award, Fred Biletnikoff Award, Lott IMPACT Trophy, and a two-time Paul Hornung Award winner.
Needless to say, Jacksonville wants Hunter to be an impact player on their offense. His early third-quarter catch was a key play as Lawrence scored on a 10-yard run, the quarterback’s first rushing touchdown this season. That tied the game at 14-14 at the time.
If Hunter can continue contributing as Monday night’s game goes against the Chiefs, it might turn the tide. Jacksonville would love to knock off Kansas City at home and earn its fourth victory this season.
Hunter’s presence causes NFL secondaries to do their best to keep him in check. The rookie is determined to prove that he’s worthy of all the acclaim that’s been put on him from college and into the NFL. Heading into Week 5, he was ranked as the 72nd-best receiver in the league with a D grade based on PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact metric.
