Unlike in previous seasons, preseason has seemingly flown by this summer.
However, with roster spots still up in the air for all 32 teams, the home stretch allows players to make one final impression before final cutdown day.
Are There Any NFL Preseason Games on Aug. 25?
No, there are no games scheduled tonight. The preseason ended on Aug. 23, and the game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Las Vegas Raiders drew the exhibition season to a close. Now, teams will prepare for the regular season.
The 2025 NFL season starts with two separate games over two nights, beginning on Thursday, Sept. 4. First, the Dallas Cowboys head to Philadelphia to battle their division rival and defending Super Bowl champion, the Eagles.
The next night, Friday, Sept. 5, the Kansas City Chiefs renew division rivalries with their AFC West foe, the Los Angeles Chargers. However, all eyes should be on the first game of the season.
Cowboys at Eagles
Start Time: 8:20 p.m. Eastern
Location: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia
TV: NBC
Radio: SportsRadio 94WIP/94.1 FM (Philadelphia), KRLD-FM 105.3 (Dallas)
After defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, the Eagles will welcome their nemesis to the City of Brotherly Love. For the Eagles, not much changed in terms of player turnover. Yet, an injury to a key player could become troublesome. Starting left guard Landon Dickerson suffered a knee injury on Aug. 10. A subsequent MRI displayed a meniscus injury.
Dickerson underwent what is being labeled as a minor procedure. The team is holding out hope that he could return for the season opener. Rookies Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba will start as reserves on the defensive side.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys underwent a facelift, of sorts. The team drafted Alabama guard Tyler Booker to replace the recently retired Zach Martin. Martin, a seven-time All-Pro, played 10,562 snaps during his career. The rookie will immediately have his hands full, and he must contend with Eagles defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.
Perhaps the most exciting addition to the roster is wideout George Pickens. Traded from Pittsburgh in the offseason, Pickens gives quarterback Dak Prescott another receiving threat to test defenses.
The Eagles hope the corners Kelee Ringo and Quinyon Mitchell duo will rise to the occasion. On the other hand, the Cowboys must contend with DeVonta Smith, who caught six passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-7 win for the Eagles the last time these two teams met in Week 17 of last season.
DEVONTA SMITH ONLY NEEDS ONE HAND 😱

In what seems like a yearly tradition, the NFL season opener could be an entertaining game between hated rivals. Can the Cowboys send a message early to Philadelphia, or will the Eagles continue their winning ways?
