Shedeur Sanders waited for his turn as it wasn’t looking promising after his slide in the 2025 NFL Draft. Being selected by the Browns after rookie Dillon Gabriel in the draft and starting as the QB4 in the depth chart, it looked like Sanders might not get his chance.
However, with some luck and determination, he ended up thrust into a game and hasn’t looked back. With a signature performance in Week 14, it looked promising. Week 15 came along and has been far from spectacular.
Shedeur Sanders’ Slow Start
Sanders took control of the starting job in Cleveland following an injury to Gabriel. His domination of the Titans was encouraging. But the NFL can humble you real quick. The Bears are doing just that to Sanders. He’s not injured, but he has nothing going for the Browns’ offense.
At halftime, he completed four of his 12 passes for 54 yards, but is the leading rusher for the Browns with only nine yards on one carry. The Browns need more out of everyone on offense, but as the signal-caller, it starts with Sanders to get the ball rolling.
Unfortunately, the situation has deteriorated for the Browns. Sanders is just five for 16 with an interception. Right away, the Bears took advantage with an unreal touchdown. Caleb Williams threw an incredible ball through traffic, finding a leaping DJ Moore in the end zone to extend the lead to three possessions.
Jaylon Johnson just took it out of his hands for the INT 😳

Sanders immediately responded with a 47-yard pass of his own. But the problem is the game is getting out of hand already because he followed it up with his second interception in as many possessions. Sanders continues to show flashes, but he needs to be consistent to establish himself as a starter in the NFL and contribute to Cleveland’s success on the field.
Sanders ranks 36th in PFSN’s QB Impact score with a grade of 66.6. He doesn’t have the same amount of reps as those in front of him, but he hasn’t proven much in his limited action. But he still qualifies for the metric and sits quite low in the rankings.
The Browns will very likely fall to 3-11 and closely follow their odds at a top pick in the NFL Draft once again. Sanders has a few games to show what he’s got, or the Browns might once again look for another answer at quarterback. After Shedeur mania hit its peak in Week 14, it’s plummeted to the lowest of lows during his reign as the starter.
