Back in Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season, running back Saquon Barkley suffered a groin injury. Thankfully, the Philadelphia Eagles were on a bye in Week 9, and now the star running back is off the injury report.
However, an incredibly slow Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field raises some questions. By the end of the first half, Philadelphia had only posted 125 total yards; Barkley did lead the Eagles in rushing yards with 33 by the end of the second quarter, but it seemed he still wasn’t at his prime.

What Happened to Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley?
No, Barkley is not injured. Barkley, who was one of the best offensive players in the league last season, is coming off a strong showing against the New York Giants in Week 8, scoring a pair of touchdowns while tallying over 150 total yards.
Still, it’s been a down season for the former first-round pick, as he’s averaging only 4.1 yards per carry — down from around 6.0 last season.
A Penn State Alum, Barkley was originally drafted as the No. 2 overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft. He left to join their division rival, Philadelphia, as a free agent in March of 2024.
This season, the star RB has just three games where he rushed for 60 yards or more in the 2025 campaign.
However, the simple answer could be that the Week 10 edition of MNF is just a dud; 0-0 at halftime doesn’t leave much for fans to be excited about.
Philadelphia entered play against Green Bay with the No. 12-ranked offense of the year via PFSN’s Offense Impact metric. The Eagles have an overall grade of C+ off a 79.1 Offense Impact Score.
The Packers did rank 11th in the NFL in yards per carry allowed (4.0), and the Eagles’ offensive line had struggled to open up major running lanes for Barkley, so in reality, the game against Green Bay isn’t a fair showing of his skillset.
Barkley has 7,735 rushing yards and 52 touchdowns across eight seasons of work prior to the conclusion of play on Nov. 10. The 6’0″, 233-pound 28-year-old has also recorded 2,537 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
The running back not being hurt is still a huge boost for an Eagles team that is a road underdog as it looks to stay in the top spot in the NFC standings. Despite a low-scoring MNF game, Philadelphia will certainly continue making his health a priority.
