Los Angeles Chargers running back Omarion Hampton has had minimal impact for his team so far against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday.
Hampton has been a part of the Chargers’ backfield this season but was off to a slow start against the Cowboys.
What’s Happening With Chargers RB Omarion Hampton?
The Chargers are up 14-10 in the second quarter. Dallas was driving for a go-ahead touchdown, but had to settle for a Brandon Aubrey field goal. Herbert followed that up with a touchdown pass to give Los Angeles the lead.
So, how has Hampton been doing? Hampton has three carries for 25 yards. He’s not been too involved in the Chargers’ offense at this time.

That doesn’t mean, though, that Hampton will not get more carries as the game rolls along. The Cowboys were eliminated from NFL postseason consideration on Saturday, so they are simply playing out the string.
Yet Los Angeles head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to see his offense, especially Hampton, get things going on the field in a better way. According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Hampton has an impact score of 70.9 and grades out to a C.

So far this season and entering Sunday’s game, Hampton has 94 carries for 431 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He’s averaging 4.6 yards per carry, which helps put the Chargers in a solid position to advance down the field.
Hampton and the Chargers really are looking to get a victory here. Look for Los Angeles to take advantage of a Dallas team that is simply playing out the string. This marks the 30th straight season that the Cowboys will not either make the NFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl.
However, Hampton has a chance to make a difference as the game progresses. Chargers fans and NFL observers will be eager to see how he performs. The Dallas defense has been suspect at times, even against the run. Hampton can take advantage of that and get yards to move the Chargers down the field and closer to the end zone.
Look for Hampton to get more carries while Herbert keeps looking to connect with his wide receivers down the field. There’s time for the Chargers to put this game away early.
