Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren was doing his best to get the Steelers’ offense rolling on a cold night in Pittsburgh, but failed to make a big impact in the first half.
The Miami Dolphins took a 3-0 lead in the second quarter, but Pittsburgh was able to score a touchdown before the end of the first half.
What’s Happening With Steelers RB Jaylen Warren?
Although the Steelers’ offense has struggled so far against the Dolphins, their defense has stepped up in a big way.
On this play, Patrick Queen blasted through the Miami offensive line and stopped a Miami running back behind the line of scrimmage.

OK, so how is Warren doing so far? He has eight carries for 20 yards and one reception for no yards. The 27-year-old running back was listed as questionable heading into the game due to an illness, and it seems like he is not fully healthy.
According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Warren has an impact score of 80.1 and grades out to a B-. Entering Monday night’s game, the Steelers running back has 159 carries for 652 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 4.1 yards per rushing attempt.
He’s also proven to be a steady receiver out of the backfield. So far this season, Warren has 30 catches for 277 yards and two touchdown receptions.

As for Kenneth Gainwell, another option at running back, he has an impact score of 76.8 and grades out to a C+.
With time running out in the first half, Warren got close to the goal line with the Steelers looking to score a touchdown. Unfortunately, he was stopped twice near the goal line as the Dolphins’ defense stood him up.
But the Steelers finally got into the end zone to take a 7-3 lead on tight end Connor Heyward, executing the infamous tush push play. That was Heyward’s first career NFL touchdown, which came on his fourth carry on Monday night against Miami.
Warren is in his fourth NFL season and played college ball at Oklahoma State. He will look to do more in the second half as Pittsburgh needs a win against the Dolphins to build on their lead in the AFC North.
