Is Jaylen Waddle Injured? A Look at the Dolphins Star’s Slow Start in Week 11 vs. Commanders

Jaylen Waddle failed to make an impact in the first half for the Miami Dolphins against the Washington Commanders. Here's the latest on his status.

It’s been a first half to forget for NFL fans who woke up early to see the Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins face off in Madrid.

The Dolphins’ offense hasn’t been very effective, and with only six points at halftime, they’ll need to find their groove in the second half. Their defense is keeping them in it, but they may not hold forever. Jaylen Waddle is off to a slow start and needs to get more involved.

Jaylen Waddle’s Quiet First Half

Waddle has been held in check for the majority of the first half. The Dolphins’ passing attack hasn’t been great as the Commanders’ defense has proven a tough task for Miami. Waddle isn’t hurt; he just has been quiet.

Waddle is the leading receiver in the first half for the Dolphins, but that isn’t saying much. He has two catches for just 21 yards. The Dolphins only have 64 passing yards, and that needs to change in the second half. Getting the ball to their star receiver could make a huge difference for Miami.

Waddle is the premier threat for the Miami offense. De’Von Achane is an excellent weapon out of the backfield, but on the outside, Waddle is the guy. He is the 7th-ranked wide receiver in PFSN’s WR Impact score with an impact score of 86.9. There is no reason that Waddle shouldn’t see more action in the second half.

The Dolphins have struggled on the offensive side of the ball at numerous points in the 2025 season. Relying on their key weapons is what they have to do if they want to stack some wins despite their season being very much over.

Waddle was a big part of Miami’s upset victory over the Bills last week as he reeled in a touchdown while being interfered with. He only had five catches in that game, but racked up 84 yards to go with the touchdown. It could be a matter of time before Waddle makes a big play for Miami against the Commanders’ defense, which is playing them tough.

Building momentum into next season is what the Dolphins have to do in the remaining weeks of the season. With some easy games on the schedule ahead, the Dolphins can take care of business in those games and establish a solid foundation heading into 2026. That starts today with a strong second half to take down the Commanders, who are down their star QB Jayden Daniels.
