Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle has been a pretty steady downfield option for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this season.
So far on Sunday, though, against the New Orleans Saints at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., Waddle has been quiet.
Is Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle Injured?
The Dolphins tried to get their fans in the mood for a big home game with some pre-game activities.
But Waddle, so far, has one catch for four yards and has been targeted three times by Tagovailoa against New Orleans. One of Waddle’s targets included a Tagovailoa pass toward the end zone, but it ended up being an interception.

For the season, Waddle has 49 catches for 722 yards and five touchdowns. He was a first-round draft pick (No. 6 overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dolphins. Waddle hopes to get more involved in the game and, hopefully, avoid any serious injuries as well.
According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Waddle has an impact score of 85.2 and grades out to a B.
The Dolphins were up 16-0 over New Orleans at halftime. Darren Waller and Malik Washington have led the Miami receiving corps with two catches apiece. As for Tagovailoa, he’s 7-of-14 passing for 93 yards and that one interception.
Waddle has played all five of his NFL seasons with the Dolphins. He led the NFL in 2022 with 18.1 receiving yards per reception as well as 11.6 receiving yards per target. Waddle has 358 career receptions for 4,851 yards and 25 touchdown catches.
Waddle has three games on the season, so far, with six catches apiece. He’s hoping to make Sunday’s game against the Saints game No. 4 with six or more catches, too.
The Dolphins have struggled this season under head coach Mike McDaniel. Miami is 4-7 on the season entering Sunday’s home game. The Dolphins, though, have a 3-3 record when playing at Hard Rock Stadium this season.
There have been some off-the-field issues involving Tagovailoa questioning his teammates, and McDaniel has also come under fire, too. Winning, of course, fixes a lot of problems. That’s what Miami is trying to do against New Orleans, which came into the game with a 2-9 record, including a 1-4 mark away from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
The Dolphins hope to maintain that lead working in their favor in the second half and, perhaps, have Miami’s defense record a shutout as well.
