Is Jameson Williams Injured? Breaking Down Lions WR’s Performance in Thanksgiving Matchup vs. Packers

Lions WR Jameson Williams had a pretty quiet first quarter against the Packers on Thanksgiving Day. Is Williams injured?

With the Detroit Lions already down at tight end with Sam LaPorta out and losing wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to an ankle injury, the team needed someone to step up and take up the slack.

Detroit looked for another wide receiver option on Thanksgiving Day against the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field in Detroit.

Is Lions WR Jameson Williams Injured?

Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams has been called to step up to the plate, so to speak, and take up St. Brown’s and LaPorta’s receiving slack. However, it didn’t work out for him for the majority of the first half.

After staying quiet for most of the first half, Williams scored a big touchdown for the Lions. At halftime, he had three receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown.

Green Bay jumped out to a 17-7 lead late in the second quarter. It’s not the start that Campbell would have wanted to see from his team in front of a packed home crowd, but Williams’ touchdown helped to cut the lead to 17-14 at halftime.

On his touchdown catch, Williams caught a pass from Detroit quarterback Jared Goff, dashed through the Green Bay secondary, and rolled into the end zone with a bunch of teammates around him.

Williams was a first-round pick after playing his college ball with the Alabama Crimson Tide for the Lions. He was the 12th overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft. Entering Thursday’s game, Williams had 31 catches for 562 yards and five touchdowns.

According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Williams has an impact score of 76.3 and grades out to a C. What about St. Brown? His impact score is an 87.9 and grades out to a B+.

So, Williams will have an opportunity in the second half to really step it up for Goff and the Detroit offense. Goff will be looking to connect with him as the Lions look to rally from behind in the third quarter.
