Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens came into the Thanksgiving Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs on a mission. Pickens wanted to let Cowboys Nation know that he’s a solid receiver for quarterback Dak Prescott.
However, as the first half wound down at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Pickens did not appear too prominently in the box score.
Is Cowboys’ WR George Pickens Injured?
Pickens only had two catches for 22 yards and seemed to lose one pass attempt in his direction in the sun shining through the stadium’s glass. Dallas held a 17-14 lead at halftime.
Before the game, though, Pickens arrived in style as he was going to the Cowboys’ locker room to suit up for the Thanksgiving Day clash.

Pickens was targeted five times by Prescott, and his longest reception so far on Thursday was for 12 yards.
According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Pickens has an impact score of 94.7 and grades out to an A. For the season, Pickens has 67 catches for 1,054 yards and eight touchdowns. The Cowboys kept Kansas City off the scoreboard just before halftime.

Pickens played his first three NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Cowboys in the offseason ahead of the 2025 NFL season. At this point in his career, Pickens has 241 receptions for 3,895 yards and 20 touchdown catches.
Pickens played college football at Georgia under Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart and was part of Georgia’s 2021 national championship team. He was a second-round draft pick (No. 52 overall) by the Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft. Pickens had 90 catches for 1,347 yards and 14 touchdown catches in three seasons at Georgia.
The Cowboys have hoped that Pickens would give their team a secondary option at wide receiver besides CeeDee Lamb. As the season has gone on, Pickens has shown an ability to get open for Prescott downfield. Pickens and Lamb, though, were held out of Dallas’ opening series in its game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said it was for disciplinary reasons. Well, when Pickens and Lamb got on the field, they had one of their best games individually this season. Look for Prescott to try to connect with Pickens more in the second half against the Chiefs.
