Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf has tried to make an impact against the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, despite the Steelers’ lead of 13-9 in the third quarter, Metcalf hasn’t been at his best.

Is Steelers WR DK Metcalf Injured?
In the third quarter, Metcalf has four catches for 49 yards. He’s been targeted six times by Rodgers in the ballgame.
On one pass play, though, it appeared that there was a miscommunication between Rodgers and Metcalf. A video replay showed Rodgers’ distress over the situation. At this time, it also does not appear that Metcalf is injured in any way.

Entering Sunday’s game, the former second-round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2019 NFL Draft had 32 receptions for 502 yards and five touchdowns this season. According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Metcalf has a 79.7 WR Impact Score and grades out to a C+.
As for additional wide receivers for Rodgers, who got injured in the ballgame in the third quarter, Calvin Austin III has a PFSN NFL WR Impact Score of 67.4 and grades out to a D+. For the season entering into the Cincinnati game, Austin had 21 catches for 237 yards and two touchdown catches.

Rodgers was grabbing his arm after taking a hit from a Bengals defender. It’s not clear whether Rodgers had to go back to the Pittsburgh locker room. Backup Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph came onto the field in Rodgers’ place and was still out there midway through the third quarter.
At this time, it looks like Rudolph will be the QB1 for Pittsburgh, at least for a good chunk of the second half against Joe Flacco and the Bengals.
Metcalf played his first six seasons for the Seahawks and is in his first one with Pittsburgh. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was hoping that Metcalf could add an additional element and a receiving option for Rodgers this season. In his NFL career, Metcalf has 470 catches for 6,826 yards and 53 touchdown receptions.
Metcalf will be looking to do his best for the Steelers in the second half. With Rudolph now calling the plays, if Metcalf can contribute in any way, then the Pittsburgh offense will get an extra gear that’s needed late against Cincinnati.
