Is Dallas Goedert Injured? A Look at the Eagles TE’s Status After Slow Start in Week 16 vs. Commanders

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has failed to make an impact in the first half against the Washington Commanders. Here's the latest on his status.

With the Philadelphia Eagles going up against the Washington Commanders with a chance to clinch the NFC East Division title on Saturday, the Eagles were looking for everyone to step up.

That includes tight end Dallas Goedert, who has been a good part of the game plans throughout the season, but was not featured much in the first half on Saturday.

What’s Happening With Eagles’ TE Dallas Goedert?

The Eagles got on the board and had some help with wide receiver A.J. Brown catching a pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts and picking up some yards after catch.

Philadelphia took a 7-3 lead at that time, but the Commanders scored with less than four minutes left until halftime to make it 10-7 Washington. Brown also had a couple of drops, but was doing his part to help the Eagles’ offense along.

As for Goedert, he’s been held without a catch at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. In fact, Goedert hasn’t even been targeted by Hurts once during the first half. There has not been any indication that the tight end is injured, either.

Goedert did not get involved at all as the first half ran out of time. Eagles kicker Jake Elliott missed two field goals in the first half, including getting a second chance on his second attempt after a Washington penalty. Those misses kept the score 10-7, Washington at halftime.

According to the PFSN NFL TE Impact metrics, Goedert has a 79.6 impact score and grades out to a C+. For the season, Goedert has 54 catches for 551 yards and nine touchdown catches. Goedert has usually been one of the best tight ends in the NFL, but his numbers this season reflect otherwise.

As the Eagles started on defense against the Commanders in the second half, Goedert can only hope that Hurts can target him downfield. The Washington secondary has been playing pretty tough against the Eagles’ receivers so far. Goedert will have to find a way to get open for Hurts in the third quarter to help Philadelphia add to its score.

Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni might put a bug in Hurts’ ear to look for the star tight end when he’s open and connect with him more as the Eagles attempt to make a comeback.
