The Seattle Seahawks enter Week 9 with uncertainty surrounding their wide receiver group, and the biggest question is whether Cooper Kupp will be available for Sunday night’s matchup against the Washington Commanders.
With kickoff scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, the final decision has not yet been announced, leaving fans and analysts waiting for the last official injury report.
Is Cooper Kupp Trending Toward Playing on Sunday?
Cooper Kupp appears on the Seahawks’ injury report with a heel issue and was listed as a limited participant in practice. He does not currently have a game status designation, but there was a noticeable change in his workload during the week.
The injury report noted that Kupp practiced fully on Wednesday despite dealing with heel and hamstring issues, but his status was downgraded to limited the following day. That shift indicates the Seahawks are being cautious, though it does not confirm whether he will be held out.
Kupp is one of several Seattle pass catchers dealing with injuries. Dareke Young has not practiced due to a quadricep injury and could be a candidate for injured reserve after missing two straight sessions.
Additionally, Jake Bobo has been limited by an Achilles issue, while Eric Saubert has not practiced due to a calf injury, making his availability uncertain. Neither Julian Love nor Saubert are expected to play, since both were listed as non-participants. On a positive note, there is no indication of any quarterback setback for the Seahawks, as the report noted that Sam Darnold’s chest issue is not viewed as a problem.
How Has Kupp Performed in 2025 So Far?
Kupp has been productive across seven games this season, recording 24 receptions on 33 targets for 293 yards and one touchdown, which comes out to 41.9 receiving yards per game. His weekly production has varied, ranging from 90 receiving yards in Week 2 against the Steelers to a lone 32-yard reception in Week 7 against the Texans.
His most efficient scoring performance came in Week 6, when he recorded a touchdown against the Jaguars. PFSN’s WR Impact metric gives Kupp a 75.5 WR Impact Score for the 2025 season, which results in a C grade. He is ranked 43rd among wide receivers this year and 323rd among all players since 2019. The metric reflects that Kupp has contributed steadily but is not currently producing at the level of the league’s top statistical receivers.
The Seahawks are expected to announce their official game statuses on Friday, when the team issues its final injury report along with the corresponding player designations. Since Kupp has continued practicing, even on a limited basis, the expectation is that he has a viable chance to play unless the heel issue worsens before Sunday.
Seattle will face the Commanders on Nov. 2, 2025, with the game airing on NBC and Peacock. It is also available via Fubo, where regional restrictions apply.
