With the Green Bay Packers jumping out to a 17-14 lead at halftime against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field in Detroit, the Packers have been looking to get all of their offensive targets involved.
While players like Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks have scored touchdowns, one Packers player has been pretty quiet.
Is Packers WR Christian Watson Injured?
If one takes a look at the first-half statistics, then they’ll be able to see that Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has not been too involved.
At halftime, Watson has only two catches for 21 yards and one rushing attempt for three yards. Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been looking for Watson downfield, but the opportunities to connect with him haven’t worked out.

Watson was a second-round draft pick (No. 34 overall) by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft out of North Dakota State.
Watson has rebounded from an ACL injury and found a way to do his best to help Love out as much as possible. Due to the number of games he has missed, Watson is ineligible to be graded on the PFSN NFL WR Impact metric. But Doubs has an impact score of 75.6 and grades out to a C. What about Wicks? He has an impact score of 67.7 and grades out to a D+.
For the Packers to keep pushing the score up and secure the Thanksgiving Day victory, Watson will have to find a way to get more involved. The Packers’ offense demonstrated its ability to move the ball against a very stout Detroit defense led by Aiden Hutchinson.
Watson, of course, wants to have a big day in front of a national television audience. Getting more targets from Love in the second half could result in him getting additional receptions and yardage. If Watson could score a touchdown, too, then that wouldn’t disappoint Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur one bit.
#UPDATE: Watson scored a stunning 51-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
In his three-plus seasons with the Packers, Watson has 115 receptions for 1,936 yards and 16 touchdown receptions. There’s time for Watson to add to these statistics in the second half against the Lions. Let’s see if he and Love can connect on pass plays.
