Coming into Week 17, CeeDee Lamb hoped to do his best to help the Dallas Cowboys, now out of the NFL postseason picture, score a Christmas Day victory over the Washington Commanders. However, he is off to a slow start in the first half.
The Cowboys have jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the second quarter over the Commanders, who are starting Josh Johnson at quarterback.
What’s Happening With Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb?
Lamb does not appear to be injured at all, as he has caught three passes from Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott for 15 yards.
Lamb has been targeted five times so far in the first half. Up 14-3, though, Prescott connected with KaVontae Turpin for an 86-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Lamb has been trying his best to play alongside fellow Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens this season. It’s been a bit rocky at times, but the star wideout will look to help Dallas secure a victory on the road on Christmas Day.
According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, Lamb has an impact score of 84.0 and grades out to a B. Entering the Christmas Day matchup, Lamb had 69 catches for 1,027 yards and three touchdowns. He’s been targeted 106 times entering Thursday’s game, so he’s been doing a pretty solid job of catching passes from Prescott.

The Cowboys entered the 2025 NFL season with high hopes of making the NFL playoffs. But the season didn’t go as planned for first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The Dallas offense has been working hard to be effective all season long. Yet there have been problems on the defensive side of the ball.
Entering the Christmas Day game against the Commanders, the Cowboys’ defense was allowing 30.3 points per game, the second-worst in the league. That’s not a good recipe for success for an NFL team aiming to make the postseason.
Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones traded Micah Parsons away to the Green Bay Packers before the season. Parsons is now out for the season, but before his injury, he played a vital role in helping Green Bay this season.
For now, Lamb and the Cowboys will look to secure that victory over their longtime NFC East Division rivals.
