There is no question that the Cleveland Browns are in the middle of a rebuild. After a five-win season in 2025, the Browns might not be competitive in the near future, but they are starting to put the pieces in place. One thing every rebuilding team looks for is quality young players, and the Browns found a few in the recent NFL Draft.
The Browns’ 2025 draft class could start the franchise’s turnaround. One reason for that is their second-round pick and likely Defensive Rookie of the Year, Carson Schwesinger. He had a fantastic rookie season, and he should be recognized at the NFL Honors ceremony on Thursday Night.
Is Carson Schwesinger Linked to Someone?
From looking around social media, it does not appear that Schwesinger is married or dating anyone at this current time. All of his Instagram posts are about football, and that seems to be his main focus as he heads into his second NFL season. Schwesinger is the middle child of five siblings and learned a lot about hard work and toughness growing up. He can use both of those traits on the football field.
Schwesinger went to a football camp in high school run by Chris Collins, a former NFL wide receivers coach, who said, “He was just one of those kids who was rare in terms of wanting to work on the craft and wanting to work on the why and real analytical in terms of why you’re doing it.”

He went from playing three seasons at UCLA in California to playing in the cold city of Cleveland. Moving across the nation to play in a different climate could not be easy, but Schwesinger had no problem with it.
Schwesinger did not have an easy path to college, as he was not a top recruit. You could even say he was the long shot to make it to the NFL, leaving high school. Schwesinger was a walk-on at UCLA and had to earn his way onto the team and into the starting lineup. He starred on the scout team, catching his coaches’ eyes, and ultimately earned a scholarship heading into the 2022 season.
All of Schwesinger’s life seems to revolve around football, which is likely a significant reason he has become one of the best linebackers in the NFL. In PFSN’s LB impact metrics, Schwesinger received an impact score of 86.3 with the letter grade B.
Browns Must Build Around Their Defense
Schwesinger is one of a few great players the Browns have on the defensive side of the ball. They also have Myles Garrett, who will be the runaway winner of Defensive Player of the Year, and cornerback Denzel Ward, who was named to his fifth Pro Bowl this season.
The Browns just hired new head coach Todd Monken to lead the charge, and it will be interesting to see how he can turn around a franchise that needs a total overhaul. With some young talent on the defensive side, maybe it will not be too long until the Browns are competitive again.
