Bears QB Caleb Williams threw an interception on Chicago's first offensive series against the Rams, and shaking his hand at the end of the play.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams got a chance to lead the offense downfield on the opening series on Sunday in an NFC Divisional Round game against the Los Angeles Rams at cold, snowy Soldier Field in Chicago.

Williams, though, saw the drive come to an end, and it appeared that he had dinged his right hand.

What Happened to Bears QB Caleb Williams?

After Williams delivered the pass, which was intercepted by the Rams, NBC Sports cameras caught Williams shaking his right hand.

At this point, Williams remains in the game. But he’s going to be watching Matthew Stafford lead the Rams’ offense in the first quarter.

Williams has performed admirably in the NFL playoffs for the Bears, who are looking to get to the NFC Championship Game in Denver against the Broncos next Sunday.

Replays also showed Williams getting hit in the helmet by a Rams’ lineman, and some fans thought that a penalty should have been called. But nothing was called, the interception stood, and the Rams headed downfield to try and get on the board first. Kyren Williams’ 4-yard touchdown run put the Rams up 7-0.

In that first series for Williams, he was 1-of-3 passing for 34 yards and that one interception. According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact Metric, which is measured through the regular season, Williams finished with an impact score of 76.1 and graded out to a C.

Williams had a 58.1% pass completion percentage in the regular season. He threw for 3,942 yards, 27 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Williams is also a dual-threat quarterback for Bears head coach Ben Johnson. In the regular season, Williams had 77 carries for 388 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

With the Bears coming back out on offense in the first quarter, it will be worth watching to see if Williams’ right hand is affected after his first series. The Bears hope Williams can find open receivers downfield in key situations. Especially in the cold weather conditions at Soldier Field on Sunday night.

They’ll need Williams to play at an elite level against the Rams’ defense and a Los Angeles offense led by Stafford, whom many people believe could be the NFL Player of the Year.
