Before and during the 2025 NFL Draft, one of the projected landing spots for Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was the Las Vegas Raiders, as minority owner Tom Brady could help develop the quarterback. During the season, fans even speculated that Sanders was posting cryptic “Thank you GOD” posts on social media immediately following the Raiders’ losses.
However, the Raiders would not draft the rookie quarterback as the Cleveland Browns would select him in the fifth round. People began running with the notion that Brady was telling others not to draft Sanders, but finally, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has responded (through an insider). Let’s take a deep dive into what happened and what the insider said in response.
Tom Brady vs. Skip Bayless Feud Takes a New Step
Brady has long been one of Skip Bayless’ favorite athletes as he considers the former quarterback the greatest NFL player of all time. However, Bayless previously tweeted during the NFL Draft that Brady was partially to blame for the Raiders not drafting Sanders.
“HOW COULD TOM BRADY’S TEAM PASS ON SHEDEUR AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN??? BRADY REPORTEDLY COACHED SHEDEUR. BRADY REPORTEDLY WAS INVOLVED IN RAIDERS DRAFT DECISION-MAKING,” Bayless said.
In an exclusive to the Daily Mail, an insider close to Brady took shots at the sports opinionist.
“Tom thinks that Skip Bayless is an idiot for thinking he had anything to do with Shedeur’s downfall in the NFL Draft. Tom has limited say in what players the Raiders pick in the NFL Draft or whomever they sign. Pete Carroll (head coach) and Mark Davis (owner) have the final say on everything with the team. Will they talk to Tom for advice? Absolutely, but Tom had no sway on getting Shedeur or staying away from him.”
The insider continued to discuss that even with Brady being in the media, he would not publicly comment on this false accusation.
“Now that Tom is in the media himself and has had to deal with Skip forever, it is just another ridiculous accusation that Tom isn’t going to give life to for Skip’s benefit. It is just stupid banter.”
It seems like this will be the conclusion of a little social media feud, as Brady is not going to publicly respond to the criticism by the former Fox Sports employee. The Raiders did draft quarterback Cam Miller out of North Dakota State in the sixth round, who was the only quarterback the team selected this year, not including Tommy Mellott, who was drafted as a wide receiver after playing quarterback at Montana State.
